    How Long Is .16666666666667?
That was the cookie duration of a recent merchant offer....rather precise, no? Aside from rotfl, all I could do with such a fabulous offer is

There are such serious disconnects with reality on so many levels that I'm beginning to believe that indeed we are living in multiple universes at once, all colliding with each other.

P.S. If a mod feels this should be in the Daily Chuckle, please feel free to move.

I wish it was a joke - for those who have never seen cookies offered in hours, that is a four hour cookie!

The shortest duration I've ever seen is the same-session cookie.

This is the ridiculous side of affiliate marketing - it would be laughable if there weren't so many unsuspecting publishers sending free traffic.

    Sigh.

I remember seeing that same merchant - don't remember the name, but thought to myself "really?"...

Some merchants don't get it. They want us to promote their programs but don't want to pay us. A cookie like that tells us that they don't expect to pay us for sending a customer their way.

I think that merchant's on LS.

    Dear Affiliate:
We know that promoting our extremely desirable brand name will greatly increase your site's value in the eyes of your readers. We therefore give you permission to use our banners and links, and feel that offering this coveted right is just and equitable compensation. We're sure you'll agree. Looking forward to a profitable partnership!

P.S. As this was a private offer, I cannot divulge the name of the merchant.

Profitable for who? Don't forget that being compensated in the way of commissions is too much, since they are adding "value" to our sites by allowing us to add banners to it.

How dare any of their affiliates actually want to earn commissions.

I should have got that got but it's pretty much what they think. They do offer 6% commissions but you have 4 return hours to convert

Moved this to Merchant Best Practices forum so merchants who want to do well can find it. Merchants who don't have a clue won't read it so they are a lost cause anyway.
