Hi- I am in the process of setting up an affiliate program for my company and have been researching into some of the software available.

I don't require anything complex as we have just 1 service being sold from our site (no shopping ccart facilities etc) - buyers simply click on the service and purchase. I just want to ensure that our affiliates get paid what they are due and admin is kept to a minimum for us.

The firms that I've been studying are:
    http://www.myreferer.com/ (#1 contender so far)
    http://www.myaffiliateprogram.com
    www.fusionquest.biz
    www.directtrack.com

Any advice or suggestions are hugely welcome

    - by the way: we're a UK company, selling worldwide (if this makes any difference?)

Groundbreak is definately the way to go if you are just starting out. Just pay the one time purchase price and it is yours and it is pretty easy to configure and has a ton of features.

Does groundbreak work with a ppc type affiliate program? If not, who would be good to use for that?

thanks for the advice above. Am looking into GroundBreak. Do you find it easier to host yourself, rather than allowing the tracking company to host for you - pros V cons?

Incidentally - what happens if either type of company goes bust?

    Rybo,

If you've got a solid, dedicated server - hosting the affiliate software yourself will work fine. After all, if your site is down, no one is going to get any commission anyway.

There's no real advantage to letting someone else host the software, except when you are using a network where they take care of cheque cutting, affiliate support and similar issues. Plus, of course, networks already have a large affiliate base to tap into. If you haven't already, you might like to check www.ukaffiliates.com and www.affiliatewindow.com for these kind of services.

If you have your product priced in dollars as well as Sterling and Euros, you might also like to check out www.shareasale.com. I would usually recommend them straight out but as you are in the UK, a UK network would be better. You can do both though.

Incidentally, Ultimate Affiliate from Groundbreak is an excellent piece of software as Adam Ward has already pointed out.

I appreciate so many here recommending ShareASale - it does look good.

But why not go with interneka.com or http://www.myreferer.com and save the 20% a month. I know ShareASale's in a network, but it's not that big of a network, is it? I really don't know - that's why I'm asking.

    Thanks for your input!

You absolutely have to check Affiliate Wiz @ www.adcomplete.com - I use it for Catalogs.com and I love it. Very nice price and lots of capabilities.

FYI: Adcomplete (Affiliate Wiz) is only good on an NT box.

I tried to sign up for the Interneka newsletter yesterday and today and keep getting error page. I then sent feedback@interneka an email and it bounced back!

One other place to look: AffiliateShop.com

They are currently offering NO set up fees for the first 100 that sign up!! Only $45 a month!!

Thanks for all your suggestions - certainly helped me while away a few days, though feel I'm going a bit mad in the process

Narrowed it down to Interneka, myreferer and myaffiliate. As soon as we're up and running with a solution you will be informed...

Look forward to keeping in touch via the forum

Whatever you use - consider creating your own scripts that will do a redirect to the actual tracking system.

Otherwise, after you get a lot of affiliates all using links for that program, you won't be able to switch.

And if you have a script in your own format that include all the info you need - you can use it as an interface between your affiliates and the tracking software.

If the tracking changes, you just change your script.
No need to contact all your affiliates and remind them to change their links. Most of them will never do it

Just commenting on an old thread. There are over 20 packages out there and you need to decide if you want hosted or standalone/installed. There's also over 200 features so you need to really think of what is must-have before you start shopping around.

    Cheers,
    Peter

    Hi,

as ppc fraud seems to be a concern ... I must say that we have anti-fraud measures in place in order to help you identify faudulent clicks/affiliates. Our solution - unlike others - will read your log on a daily basis in order to ban *automatically* open proxies. Fraudulent affiliates often use open proxies to connect anonymously. Also, if you track leads or sales our solution will automatically show you repeated ips in your records. I hope this helps

Drop me a note if you have any tech questions.

Hi Max - good point. This is an area that more affiliate vendors should concentrate on as anti-parasite and anti-fraud support is increasing in demand from not just merchants but from honest affiliates too.

    Cheers,
    Peter
