Affiliate Summit West 2012 Speaking Proposal
How about affiliates telling us speakers what you want to hear at sessions at Affiliate Summit? Post your ideas here and let's see if we can get some sessions based on your interests.

    Started a list:
    • Why do most affiliate networks treat 99% of affiliates as second hand citizens?
    • How to make networks more "ethical"?
    • How Not To Run Your Affiliate Program!

Jeez I figured affiliates would jump on this. Here's one subject to consider:

Why do most affiliate networks treat 99% of affiliates as second hand citizens?

I asked iNet twice and you are not the first to mention it. I also asked AS if there was a new one to replace it with.

That's a tough one and who would you put on the panel?

Have a feelin I know the answer to the first one - because the 1% are the super, super affiliates that make the really big bucks so that's all they care about. lol A very, very stupid attitude to take since some of them lil guys may eventually turn into big guys but they'll remember how they were treated when they were still just a lil guy.

Other reason is if you have a whole lot of them lil guys (99% figure) and add up all their sales still may not equal the 1% of big guys but would still be a pretty good chunk of money and that should matter. Is the same in real life tho, those with the money are treated differently than those without. Shouldn't be, but that's how it is.

Regardless of my lil opinion just stated, think it would be a great subject and maybe possibbly????? change some minds??

"How to make networks more "ethical"?"

    Definitely a great idea.

Never been to one and doubt I will so don't really know the demographics of those who go but my suggestion:

What to look for in a merchant or affiliate manager even when selecting programs. (even the basics like how long a cookie, acceptable reversal rate, how to tell how well they convert, etc.) What is important or is it different with different affiliates?

Will let others chime in cos stayed too long and gotta get back to work now

Good idea but we need that one to be a panel of affiliates and not AM/OPMs.

Who did you ask? I didn't see anything come through out contact form or directly to me, and I checked with Missy and she didn't see anything.

Anyhow, we should have creative for the next Affiliate Summit by the middle of next week.

Thought that I had emailed Missy but am not seeing the email in my outbox. Let me know when you have an update as I get lots of inquiries and point them to this forum.

We will send an email to affiliates through ShareASale when the new banners are up. The best place to get news about Affiliate Summit is directly from us.

In the meantime, text links can be updated now.

Figure I would post there here as well - http://www.abestweb.com/forums/commi...n-59650-2.html

How about a How Not To Run Your Affiliate Program session. Just like you have other ones where somebody throws up a site and people go thru it, giving SEO advice. A lot of merchants need how to run your affiliate program advice.

I am for a panel on that subject if its seated by affiliates. I think there have been enough AM/OPM panels talking about the subject but a good old fashion affiliate *****ing session would carry more weight.

Started a list on the first post.

Sorry Chuck, didn't realize was just AM/OPMs you were referring to.

Think the three on your list now are all great suggestions
