Hi, I am coming up with a site for jewelry and i have framed an attractive affiliate program ,after good research.I have an efficient inhouse affiliate management system.I would want to know the following:
1)is it necessary that for a high valued item like jewelry,i need to join a thrid party affiliate network like CJ,linkshare ?
    2) If yes, then can someone suggest some good affiliate networks, where in the sign up fees are also affordable and the results are also satisfactory?
    3) how do i ensure completely that my affiliate program is parasite free? What are the steps to make it a Parasite free affiliate program?
    Thanks a ton !

by avoiding CJ - I think you have made the first step... by wanting a bug free site/program next is enforecement of that policy

I am a newbie Account Manager who would also like to know more about running a parasite-free affiliate network... AND - we run ours through CJ.

Having said that, what other advice and basic tips does anyone have on keeping a parasite-free network EVEN if runnning it through CJ?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Liz,
We have a parasite free program through CJ. It is possible, but vigilance is key. Here are some tips I have picked up:
    1) NEVER auto-approve sites. This is an open-door policy for parasites.
    2) Always thoroughly examine sites that apply to your program. I have had a few who looked good, but when I clicked around a bit, up came the warning of a drive-by install of some nasty program.
    3) Don't be afraid to question suspicious activity. If an affilate's stats look abnormal, follow up with them. Chances are, it wil just be an anomaly, but it is always better to be safe than sorry. And if there is a known parasite in your program, do not be hesitant to expire him!
    4) Of course, read as many of the boards here as you can. There are posts all over these boards about suspected and known parasites and their aliases. The moderator forum is a good place to ask if you are unsure.
The bottom line, really, is that you must be proactive and vigilant. Good luck!!

    Sherley,

We have been happy with ShareASale. We manually review all our sites, cross reference for known parasites, investigate suspicious activity etc. Hope this is helpful.

    Hi Lindsey,

I was hoping you could tell me more about ShareASale as I am trying to help a good friend start their affiliate program and SAS might be a good option for her. Did you look at other 3rd party solutions? How long did it take you to get the program set-up? Are you able to offer your affiliates a Product Showcase Creator or do most of them know how to use a datafeed? Thanks so much..

The Shareasale setup was very fast and easy.

Total cost was affordable, as well.
