We're going to start an affiliate program. Two specific considerations: a network that does payments for us and supports lifetime commissions.

And that's the question: which affiliate networks support lifetime commissions?

Well, I know with my program at shareasale.com, they allow me to set the cookie duration o 'never expire'. Also, they are the least expensive alternative, and their program is fairly robust.
Following everyone else is a GREAT way to become average.

    even no lifetime commissions support

just set the duration to the max. allowed

It is not a big difference then.
Or i would say it is about the same.

Well, it is NOT the same, Vrindavan.

An infinite cookie can be deleted, so this NOT a lifetime commission.

To support a lifetime commission, you need something more than a cookie-only solution. For example, you store customer's e-mail and check further orders - if e-mail is the same, then a lifetime commmission is granted.

Of course, an e-mail address can be changed by customer... So you also need to integrate this "e-mail change script" with your affiliate database.

Yes, it's complicated, but - as I've just pictured - definitely do-able, even for an affiliate network.

Hell, if no network supports such an important factor as lifetime commissions, maybe it's time to start our own superior network?

But seriously - is there any affiliate network that supports lifetime commissions at this time?

it is elbowcreek mentioned using cookie,
    not me

Yes, i agree that long return day is not equal to lifetime tracking technically

However, we should also consider the likelihood for refer a sale after the customer leave the merchant site for very long time.

If it is for tracking for re-order commission,
this also depends on the merchant's customer retention success.

    Right, Vrindavan...

...but I have my own reasons for lifetime commissions support. And I still have no answers to my question. It doesn't look good.

    Any help, anyone?

Really, hard to believe... NO lifetime commission support in affiliate networks? NONE of them?

If you keep track of the affiliates who send you your customer and store there affiliate id, shareasale.com supports posting sales each time that customer makes a sale as long as your software can handle the backend. I am setting this up with my program to do monthly recurring commissions so that every month a customer renews there hosting, the affiliate gets paid for the sale.
