Google already knows so much about everyone they can probably show a banner for the exact flight you want, before you even know you want it. Between search, analytics, gmail, android, chrome and everything else, they know where you want to go before you do.

they should do well with this. good for them

    Just curious:

Is the Google just direct linking or are those flights listed monetized in some way?

Moved the off topic conversation here: http://www.abestweb.com/forums/virtu...ix-148878.html

Good question Convergence. I looked at Salt Lake City to Denver and I see that it lists Southwest which no other system lists. It doesn't list the SW prices or link to them but it does give a comparative flight schedule.

When I try to book a flight I compare three to four sites. I start with Orbits or Expedia, add Delta and Southwest. If they would integrate all into one I would use Google flight.

No results to anywhere from here. 400 options on Bing to Vegas.

SW doesn't participate in booking agents, ie: Priceline, Kayak, etc. They may be "blocking" the Google's access to pricing.

Still curious how / if it's being monetized...

I am for a better mousetrap and haven't looked at Bing. Frankly anything Microsoft falls off the table for me even after seeing all their commercials.

I will say that it is nice without all the clutter like all the other search sites. Seems quick and easy to find what you are looking for.

Google will collect an affiliate fee from travel websites when people click through from the search engine's service to book flights.
Source: Google debuts flight search in US | Technology | guardian.co.uk

    Remember, the Google:

    • Didn't like domain parked pages so they killed them off and in the same breath launched their own domain parking program (circa June/July 2008)
    • Doesn't like affiliates

I am waiting for Google to just make any site an instant affiliate with no code or technology just by using Google Analytics on your site. Then by putting a direct link to any site they charge the merchant via AdSense and pay affiliates the same. Of course the merchant would have to use GA and Google cart but it would be free.

Will only be one affiliate on the Google - the Google itself...
