Saw this site and thought it was too good to be true, which means it probably is.

    Has anyone tried http://www.givemetraffic.com?

I'm curious as to how they do it. The site design looks good, but it is awfully skimpy on facts.

They won't say where the traffic comes from, so I'd guess it has to be incentivised traffic somehow. Maybe I'm wrong!

For that price, my guess is they are buying exit traffic. Not sure how they can say it's targeted. Would not count on very good conversions. For $6.95 it may be worth a try, but I would say only if you have a low priced consumer product with broad universal appeal.

If anyone trys it, please report back and let us know if this deal is real.

Sounds interesting for a new site, that has not generated search engine traffic yet.

I dropped their sales department a note asking for more info on what type of traffic they send, I'll let you know what kind of response I get.

Here's their response on the "targeted" traffic:

Depends on the product.... We have about 12 categories currently. Presently,
    they are fairly general... like...

    1.) Adult/Casino
    2.) Business to Business
    3.) Shopping
    4.) Webmasters

    etc... Pretty general...

    -Chris

I did not attempt to find out how the traffic is generated.

I emailed them regarding their traffic source.
For $6.95 I might try it since they have a webmaster category. Once I get my affiliate recruiting page built I'll be promoting several strong affiliate programs so this may be a fit. Still a little skeptical though.
Let you know what I find out.

    Hi Linda,

I'm more worried about giving them my cc info than about throwing away $7. Looking over their page it makes so much sense now to have your claims supported by facts, testimonials, and real contact information.

Looking at it that way their site is quite a goodlesson in how not to appear credible. I'm looking forward to your experiment.

Nexus - great point about the credit card! I'm becoming more dubious by the day.

Here is the email reply I got back from them regarding where they get their traffic.

"All traffic is delivered via our targeted popunder ad network." Very informative answer, don't you think?

The email address was from phatweb.net. The site says coming soon but if you do some research you see it used to be something else and all the old pages are missing. He also owns phatweb hosting. (Checked Tucows whois on all 3 sites.)

I'm gonna pass. I've learned that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
Don't mean to discredit this person or the service (in case it's legit). I'm just not comfortable trying it.

    Post if anyone learns more.

    Linda,

Yeah, it is the marketer's responsibility to convey enough information to be credible and to instill confidence in (potential) clients. Especially when one considers this site is selling to other marketers.

Passing on this is probably a good idea. It's not like there's a shortage of marketing ideas to try.
