I'm not sure how true or accurate it is (hope it's not true for your sake), but there's a review at cnet which states smartftp contains some kind of virus.

I've been looking in detail about various ftp progs and I'm just on my last few days of free trial of ftp voyager. Intend to buy the registered version once the free trial is over. Not happy that they only give 2 years of updates, even with the slightly high cost of the prog, but it's such an excellent proggie that I've decided I'll be paying to continue using it.

FTP Voyager is great, used it for the longest, but then I found Bullet Proof FTP which was less bulky (resource wise) and is only $29.95.

I have been using CuteFTP Pro now for over a year and totally love the program. It does cost more than most ... but, it is such a great program was worth the extra price.

Another vote for bulletproof. Every other ftp program I have ever run has has issues with at least one site. Not Bulletproof.

I second that vote for Cute FTP, been using it for a while and no complaints what-so-ever.

I'm rather partial to Leech FTP myself (free) for bulk up/down loading, and Site Publisher ($25) for incermental up/down loads.

I have had problems with SmartFTP but continued using it until recently because I had nothing better. Now use WS FTP - just because I got a free copy with my hosting plan. Simple FTP software but robust.

What are the problems with SmartFTP ?

I have been using it for a year too,
easy to use and find no problems.

But i want to know what is the advantage of
synchronization? Is this very good feature?

Also, which ftp tool is the fastest and most easy to use, i don't mind pay for it.

I used to use Cupertino which was good except that it would just disappear from my Win 98 computer completely (except for the zipped file) every few months. Really weird.

Now I use WS FTP. Works very well.

I happily bought TurboFTP after trying it out. I particularly like its ability to filter out files I don't want, filter in those I do and also sorting by file date among many other features. I migrated with great relief from the limited functionality of an older version of WSFTP. I tried out a few other progs before settling on TurboFTP.

My favourite FTP client is AceFTP Pro. It's not free, but easy to use.

I used CuteFP for a long time and loved it until I did a check for spyware and something in Cuteftp caused the scanner to red flag it. I did not research it too far but I believe I read at CNET in a user review or someplace similar that Cuteftp does use some sort of spyware. I just started using WS_FTP and it works great too.

Seems that different programs work differently for different folks...

I used CoffeeCup and hated it, now using SmartFTP on this machine (which isn't REALLY free if you are using it for your business Jason

I use Bulletproof on my other machine, but it has issues when I try to upload to my allposters site... it cant handle too many files at once, but like others said, I've been using it forever...

When BPFTP fails, I go to my wife's machine and use WS_FTP... I don't think that is free either, even though I see others telling me it is
