Pop SHops and ShareASale URLS Not Working
I just posted this in the SAS forum as well.

All links generated from Pop Shops to SAS merchants are showing this error:

"Bad Request - Request Too Long

HTTP Error 400. The size of the request headers is too long."

This is across all merchants and only with SAS links. :-(

    I don't want to panic but ... I'm panicking!
    Peace,

Rexanne - I just tested several links for a couple of SAS merchants that I use through my PopShops pages and everything seems fine for me. I'm running php coded shops, what are you using?

Added: I also tested a straight html coded page and it seems fine too. Hopefully, it was just a quick glitch.

  3. Thanks From:

MsLadyBug - I'm using HTML. Thanks for responding. If it's just me seeing this mess, I'll be thrilled as long as my site visitors are able to shop, all's well. :-)

Rexanne - Are the problems on the domain in your signature? I tested several of your shops that I know are using SAS merchants and most work BUT from the homepage I clicked a couple of your shop links but they would error out for me and wouldn't take me to the webpage. That seems more like a website issue. If you would like to PM me a couple of the shop links that you are having issues with I'll be happy to test them out.

I was looking at the source code for a couple of the webpages that wouldn't load and you may be missing a close tag for either:

    </style> or </head>

Not positive that's it but it might be causing your problem.

    MsLadyBug,

You are a star for looking into this. Thank you!

I was seeing the errors from the Pop Shops site, not from my site. While checking to make sure the products I was adding were, in fact, actually there, I was getting the above errors on all SAS links.

I just checked a couple shops both ways - on the PS site and on my sites, and all seems fine.

Could it be a problem with only certain merchants?

    Thanks for checking Hound.

I figured out what's going on:

I had to clear SAS cookies - this is an issue with SAS cookies that happens a lot. Why? Am I in SAS too much so my cookie jar overflows and has to be cleared before I can add new cookies? LOL I don't get this problem with any other network or site cookies.

I have seen other error pages for SAS cookie-overload before but not this one. Seemed to be an error in the Pop Shop code so I figured it was a Pop Shop error. GAH.

Sorry for the drama, but thank you both very much for taking the time to check it out.

Good observation! I wonder if this SAS cookie overload can still occur with shoppers using PopShops stores that include several SAS merchants? It might not be with only one page/store, but if we feature a lot of SAS merchants throughout a site and a shopper happens to click on too many SAS links. Also wondering if this is solely an SAS issue or somehow intertwined with PopShops.

Do those running datafeeds not using PS ever experience this issue?

Rexanne - Thanks for the update, so glad you were able to figure out what the problem was.

JoyUnltd - Don't know this for sure but would think the SAS cookie would respond the same whether it was delivered through a SAS Popshops link or a direct SAS link.
