Cusimano has one (WhenU) -- can't recall where it is, but if you ask in his forum, maybe someone will point you to it. Works like a charm and is easy to add to your pages.

I stopped using it when WhenU stopped snagging affiliate links.

Not sure about Gator.

The script is here:
http://www.cusimano.com/scripts/detect/

BTW, my script only detects Morpheus.

Whenu.com and ShopNow are usually bundled with freebee file sharing programs and many BHO trojan horse adware viruses. They are trying to remain silent and work their charm with affiliate management firms for kickbacks on recruiting merchants. Very sleezy Superaffiliate that will do anything to stuff their pockets with greedy advertiser bucks. They will never post anywhere, since even the lowest voltage light bulb in a flashlight burns their eyeballs. If they could operate out of a rented PO Box and temp cellphone numbers that would suit their purposes just fine. Hey merchants ..who the hell gives them your phone numbers, conversion ratios and management contact names??? Like Gator they charge huge fees to perloined sales from your competition.

canfree,

There aren't any "detection" scripts for either because they both use runtime routines.

Haiko is definitely right about that. The way they work doesn't really allow for scripts to control WhenU or Gator's actions. eZula is different because it actually interacts with the DHTML layer and a script is able to scan for instances of code overlaid by eZula.

The only way to possibly detect WhenU or Gator would be through the use of ActiveX and I would not be able to verify that either because I don't program in ActiveX.

It would be interesting if ActiveX could detect either program. People deny activex access to their computers because that's one avenue that Gator uses to get saved to our computers. So even ActiveX is not very useful. ActiveX itself is also a high security risk so a number of people won't let it run anyway.

StopU (available at ThiefWare.com) does help prevent affiliate commissions from being lost to WhenU. However, it relies on a WhenU weakness at the moment. It doesn't actually detect WhenU, but sets up a page to keep WhenU from doing it's dirty deeds on affiliate sites.

The WhenU popup ads (Gator ad clones) are a different story altogether. Nothing so far will stop the popup ads of competitors.

Haiko or others, is the cusimo script mentioned the same as what is being run when a user goes to www.parasiteware.com?

I loaded marketscore and went to parasiteware.com and it detected it. I downloaded the cusimo script and it doesn't detect it. I'm not sure if I did something wrong or... if the scripts are different?

I'd like to only send my users to parasiteware.com when I know that parasiteware.com is going to confirm the detections I tested for and..... I don't want to miss detections from my site that parasiteware.com can detect either.

Is their a way I can sync up with the detection routines performed at parasiteware.com?

I'd love to send every user infected to your site and I would guess that's a lot of traffic .

Thanks Haiko,

I piece-mealed a couple of scripts together where I give a pop under for users I detect as infected (from the script you mentioned) and give the user a brief explaination as well as a link to parasiteware.com where they can get the full blown info.

Not sure if you'll notice increased traffic but no sooner than I put it on my site I had given a popunder - ruh ro .

Thanks again

Looking for clarification...

Another person posted above that WhenU nolonger swipes commissions from affiliates. Is it that WhenU nolonger swipes Linkshare commissions or that WhenU has stopped swiping commissions altogether? I am not as current as I'd like to be with the WhenU deal or with the other thiefware in general (too busy with other things though I keep my eye on things here and there).

The day they stop pilfering commissions from affiliates or monitizing sites owners properties without permission ..is the day they cease operations.

Are you saying that they definitely still replace cookies and redirect users with their own promotional URLs? (It sounds like that is what you are saying--looking for a definite yes or no)
