And check if that machine has a HOSTS file (usually located under c:\windows\hosts, but if it's not there, search for it). If he has in that file a line like "qksrv.net 127.0.0.1", nobbaners/links to qksrv.net will work...

I tried some test links, and get 404 errors on some, but not all of them....

I checked the machine that's not showing qksrv for hosts files and no reference to qksrv in any of these files. Checked firewall settings etc.... nothing. Ran Adaware, searched for Kazaa, etc..... still nothing.

    ??

I've also tried to "fix" a computer that had the HOSTS file blocking lots of ads. I was unable to fix the problem, even when I found the qksrv lines and erased them from the list. If you are using Kazaa Lite I would suggest just erasing all entries in the HOSTS file. It is probably more important to you to know your links are working then blocking out some annoying ads. Also, I would suggest looking for Diet Kaza (that is the correct spelling) and using that instead of Kazaa Lite. It blocks all the spyware that Kazaa has, and it doesn't block all ads like Kazaa Lite does. My friend has it and it works great for him. It will even automatically find more sources for his downloads.

I think it's down. I tried to ping the server and got a "Request timeout" message.

I've had someone with XP who has the firewalling switched on test things, and he says multiple-redirects work fine.

Well I just fixed the problem (whatever it was) by deleting cookies and temp internet files in IE. I must have picked up something somewhere, a cookie, or something that blocked qksrv.

Anyone got any ideas on what it was?

    Cape,

I've had something similar happen. I did the same thing as you did. Deleted the temps and all the cookies and then did a deltreetempor~1 and it cleared it up. I think someone told me it could of been a corupted file or something.

Glad to hear you have it fixed.
