    Jack of all trades?
How many of you can build, design, code an entire website with little to no help , no out-sourcing?

I can use most any script, I can do some design, layout is easy and I've been using Dreamweaver since it was Ultra Dev 4, I think it's CS5 now? I still have CS3 and CS2.

If your laptop needs to be repaired, do you do it?

Can you take a blemish off a models body for an ad?

If you see a problem with a php include on one browser and not another, can you fix that yourself?

Can you use a MySql Database?

Can you edit XML fed flash templates?

No, I was trying to start a conversation.

I see more and more webmasters buying into getting package deals on designs, code, the whole thing. You can go thru a couple domain registrars and build an entire website by clicking on the radio buttons.

I helped some models by going thru blogger and built some blogs and they we beyond simple, of course they still had problems. But using a template, they just clicked on ther one they liked and that was it

Not too many of us left that can build the whole thing. I use a template every once in a while, like I'm building a site for a friend right now that uses XML to run a flash template site. So my question, are you the guy that can do that?

I see something I haven't seen before on the presentation of a site, and I have to know how, jQuery was the latest fun I found, amazing some of the cool things you can do with that.

When it's my code to edit, I use note pad a lot. But when I have to help someone with their code, loading it in Dreamweaver makes it a lot easier.

Built, designed and coded my own sites since 1994. In Notepad.

Never owned a laptop. But built my last 4 desktops from the ground up.

If you need to edit a model's body, move on to the next model.

PHP includes aren't a BROWSER problem. So I'll answer no.

    Run many a MySQL database.

No longer work with Flash, but, yep sure I could.

When I worked for Playboy, I learned their is no such thing as perfect and I've helped webmasters with php includes that worked in FF and not in IE

If you been doing it since the 1990's it really doesn't mean crap. so much has changed since then, but its a cool story to tell I must say.

Good thread, since 1996 I have done nearly everything myself coding, graphics, writing etc although more of a graphic person than a coder so i copy and paste a lot of stuff . back then I was one of the first commercial web designers from my area working with the first versions of Flash and Adobe/Macromedia programs, even offered a job teaching it. I have hardly ever outsourced anything. I also have my own photography equipment and do all photographs. Now days I have tried to get away from working too much or keeping up with technologies so a lot of my websites run off wordpress it's just a matter of working on top of that powerful platform. Also, everything is out there, you can just get a plugin and save days of work. Back in the late 90's and early naughties we would pull computers apart, rebuild them, install uninstall an OS several times in a day... now days I just run everything on my laptop, if it stops working just buy another....
