Hi I am new to this forum, I have a question that I hope someone can answer?
In some forums and other sites it is iether against the rules to show Affiliate links, now my question is, as an example: in a forum you can place your signature in your profile, and when you make a post your site or programme description etc is usually at the end of the post along with your Affiliate link.
So how do I hide the Affiliate link/when a member wants to click on my site.
I hope I have explained this easily.
    assistance appreciated

It is against the rules here:
    http://www.abestweb.com/forums/midni...es-146455.html

You are only allowed a signature here when you have reached 250 posts - if you would like to contribute to the community, your participation is welcome.

The only link allowed in a profile would be your own site - affiliate links are specifically not permitted.

I see you have already posted an introduction, welcome to ABW!

Unless you're special friends with one of the mods. Then you can spam the community.

I don't understand this comment.. spam isn't tolerated here, and is removed on a best efforts basis.

What a coincidence as I was wondering about this same subject a few days ago.

If I am now allowed to add a signature what is the recommended format and how do I add one.

    Thanks

Wow, 250 posts, I didn't realize that so I just removed my signature. I was planning on being active anyway, so I have no problem waiting. That's a good rule.

I do believe merchants, AMs, and OPMs are an exception as long as the sigs are not spammy. Best to check with forum moderators.

Click on “USER CP” above the Ad Banner on the top of this page.

One the left hand Menu under “Settings & Options”

    Click on “Edit Signature”

That was the case when I was administrator (because I felt we all benefited by knowing who the AMs, OPMs and Network Reps were), but that exception was removed under the new administration and now the only exception is "based on the Admin's sole discretion".

It was based on the Admin's sole discretion when you were the admin too.

It's kinda like the pot calling the kettle black - don't you think.

But you keep coming back to make a dig at current admins/mods from time to time. Move on my friend move on (or grow up and become a active member of ABW)

Not at all. Non-promotional signatures were allowed for every AM, OPM and Network Rep, not only at my discretion. I also had an open policy of allowing a signature and PM access for anyone else who asked or had a need for it, and I can't recall ever denying anyone access (and only a couple people abusing the privilege and losing it).

I'm not judging the change, just pointing out that it had changed. Convergence didn't appear to know that, based on his response.

Just setting the record straight. If that's not allowed, maybe it is time to move on. Why would I want to become active here again when I'm clearly not welcome?

Yes maybe its time for you to stop "setting the record straight" and move on.

There is no policy of Administrator only for Sig/PM, all moderators have the ability to check the box. No iron handed rules here!

Also if a moderator bans a member they have last right of refusal on any reversal. We don't have an encyclopedia of rules, we just talk to each other. I picked everyone as moderator based on interviewing and developing trust.

I wasn't going to chime in and may regret doing so. The reason I wasn't going to was that I didn't want to add fuel to the fire. Michael it seems as if you come here to start a fight with Chuck. Your signature is inflammatory and sets a negative tone. Through all this, Chuck allows you to keep on going and allows you taking swipes at him. That's hardly the actions of a bad or intolerant guy.

You say you've moved on and aren't active but that's not the case. You can't stay away. Most of us would welcome you as an active member if you were here to contribute something of use to the forum.

This negativity is childish! Please make a choice: Contribute or stay away if all you're going to do is run this forum down!

Hay gays, personally I think that the 250 post is a good idea. Should keep out all the junk post I've seen around other forums. So only real active members have this privilage. New one.
