    Exclamation State Specific Affiliate Programs
Hi all I have a major question for affiliates.

I am launching a series of State specific affiliate programs in a number of sectors, as the clients cater only State wide and not nationwide.

As an affiliate if the affiliate program(s) interested you, what is your opinion of targeting promotion on a State specific basis and not a national campaign?

This question is very important as a large number of small retailers who would not usually consider the affiliate sector as a promotional tool, would be very interested in engaging with affiliates if the affiliates could promote State specifically and not nationally.

The location of affiliates is NOT important, just that the promotion is targeted towards consumers in specific States.

Please let me have your input as soon as possible via this thread. There are a lot of small companies VERY interested in your feedback. Your views could open a whole new arena for affiliates in the USA from merchants who have not given much thought to an affiliate program before.

Would absolutely LOVE regional programs. Not only because it's relatively easy to geo-target, but if more affiliates start doing so those merchants that have dropped affiliates for State Tax Laws will see that affiliates can still market to 49 other States.

We are already excluding specific States from many programs for a variety of reasons. IE: CPA/Payday Loans and merchants who have a physical location in one State.

    Very interested in hearing more...

Thanks for the feedback! Please all add your comments. The first such regional State specific affiliate program will be out of Kankakee, Illinois with a small retailer who has a family run business for the last 38+ years.

Small retailers are the Backbone of the United States. They account for most of the national economy and are vital to local communities.

If you are a small retailer then speak to me. It's time affiliate marketing became more personal.

What is the advantage ...other than the tax crap....of a small merchant limiting their target area to a single state. I also realize that some states regulate the sale of some products more than other states.

Are we discussing small merchants that just choose to limit their sales area?

    Very curious about this.

I have 2 small online stores and want to make sales any place that I can.

A lot of retailers can only supply within their State. In addition small merchants do not want the additional hassle of trading outside their State and not just for the obvious tax reasons. Yes in part I am discussing small merchants which in my opinion are the bedrock of local communities but which also have a modest online presence and would welcome the power of affiliate marketing providing them with an additional supplementary income stream. Herb has also hit the nail on the head however. There are many diverse sectors where the merchant is restricted as to where they may sell.
