I joined the cyberguys.com afilliate program at CJ earlier today.

I had a look at the Cyberguys site and it looked pretty good, but the main point is that everything was running just fine.

I put up a link on my site and tested it.

I was taken to a page which said:-

We're updating our system
to serve you better!

If you need product information or would like to place an order while our site is temporarily unavailable, please call us toll-free:

1-800-892-1010
Monday-Friday 7AM-5PM PST

I'm betting that telephone purchases don't qualify for comission
Looks like a deliberate fraud to me - what do you guys think?

wow... first I went via an affiliate link and thought it was just site maintenance and you were over-reacting... then I went to www.cyberguys.com and saw that the site was fine and...

Looks highly suspect to me!

@ Cedric - yes, I can see how you would think I was over-reacting, but I'm a fairly level headed guy .

It does look like a simple 'site down for maintenance' page, and I suppose that's just how it's supposed to look, but what's the betting that anybody who phones them is given their main url?

I have raised the issue with CJ and so far they are burying their heads in the sand, although I think they have only checked the main site URL so far.

I sent an email to CJ as well -- I don't expect to hear from them right away... I'm guessing they're still trying to recover from this weekend.

I removed Cyberguys for reversing every sale I had over $20.

Theres a fine American tradition called 'zero tolerance'. As part of Icicle's Ongoing Americanization Campaign, I've taken it up!

I have no experience with this merchant, but if you want to bypass the phone number page, just use the Advanced Options and link directly to the URL of the correct website page.

Yep - Zero Tol for me too

Shame really - they have some pretty cool products.

I emailed Cyberguys direct, asking them what was going on. So far, no response

Spread the word.

Management brainstorm to divert commissions?? Don't they realize NO ONE knows what the hell they have available for sale and turn it over to some 5.00/hr call center dummy to close!! Dumb when they don't even know where the sales reporting OFF button is located.

I just made a link to them and then tested it and it went to the correct page for me. Perhaps they really did have a problem or they fixed it now?

If it was all a perfectly innocent mistake, why has neither party seen fit to contact me?

As far as I'm concerned they stay dropped.
