December 7th, 2011, 12:32 PM #1Pre-Orders months in adv software / Commissions
Does anyone know how Pre-Orders are handled when lets say a visitor comes to your site, clicks thru to a merchant site and buys a pre-order game that isnt out for months later.
Should I see a commission when the video game is actually shipped out? Or will nothing show up because its so far ahead of the sale?
How should this work?

Depends on how the merchant has it setup with the network. Hotel rooms don't pay until the credit card is charged at the hotel. I would ask the affiliate manager.

Having a Issue with the following Merchant:
EA STORE / Origin.com
I pre-ordered software back in July, bought 2 copies of the software and used 2 different links. One was from Linkshare, and the other for CJ since 'EA STORE / Origin' is on both these networks.
The software release date was DEC 20, 2011. My credit card has been charged! This was a digital downloadable software so no shipping was needed.
Checked both Linkshare / CJ for sale entry and nothing has been posted.
Now I'm starting to ponder if there tracking is any good ....

They would be using batch processing so it may take several days to record. I would contact the network with the order ID, they won't know its your order.

I'm with Chuck.. in some cases, it can take 3-4 business days for transactions to show up. Things are slowing down (people-wise) this week as well..
I don't promote software, but batch processing seems likely.

Ok so I waited a week or so from DEC 20 to see if anything will get posted. Still nothing on Linkshare / CJ...
I'm going to try emailing the affiliate manager / company (Digital River) and see what happens...

Are you sure you cleared cookies before you ordered and didn't exceed the cookie length? Regardless I would be contacting the networks with the order IDs asking why you weren't commissioned.

Ok so a week has passed by since I sent a email inquiry and no response. Not sure what else I can do for this problem but abandon it and switch out links to other merchants.
Forum Admin - This maybe better placed in the 'Test Purchase Reports' and with title 'EA Store / Origin.com - Pre Orders did not track'.

You need to get on the phone with them as this is money out of your pocket.
