List of retailers for a CashBack website.
I was just wondering if you get a list of retailers from a company , if someone sells it or do you have to call each retailer individually and make the list yourself.
I'm referring to CashBack websites such as Quidco , TopCashBack , etc.

Sorry , I'm not sure if this is the right section.

    Thanks.

Why would anyone give you their list of merchants they work with?

You have to build that list yourself...

Are you asking as a merchant trying to recruit them to join your affiliate program?

I was just wondering because I thought there would be a short-cut to it. I tried making a list of websites that have affiliate programs (such as Amazon) but I only got through 20 and then I decided it took to long especially if I wanted a list of 3,000+ retailers. That's why I thought someone would be selling these lists.

Also, Chuck Hamrick, I'm asking as the publisher trying to make a list of merchants. If you look at a website such as Quidco - The UK's No.1 Cashback & Voucher Codes Site, they have retailers (or merchants) such as Vodafone, ASDA, Sky , etc , etc. I was wondering if Quidco contacts each retailer individually and negotiates with them or they buy a list from somewhere and they put it on their website, thus they save time not having to go through 3,000 retailers and they just get a list with all these retailers.

    Thanks,

You can find comprehensive lists of merchants on each network, which would be a good starting point. Whether they accept cashback or not might be a question you could ask of each network. But there is definitely no shortcuts in affiliate marketing - whether it's the merchants you choose to work with, the different technology used by each network, and even the site building tools.

As Chuck & Convergence mentioned, affiliates all have their own list of merchants to manage - it's a unique combination that can set a site apart.

If you're new to affiliate marketing, you might want to start with a select (managed) group of merchants.. build your site, and then add merchants over time. Just my two cents worth..

You have to do the work there is no list or short cut, that's part of the job.

Thanks for the help, everyone. Since there is no "short-cut" I don't think I will be starting a CashBack website any time soon as I don't have the time. However, I will be looking at other opportunities of making money with affiliate marketing.

    Thank you everyone!

For what it's worth, you did aim high - a cashback site is the most complicated type of affiliate marketing business model..

Even if you had some kind of list, you would then be faced with the task of properly managing the site - administration alone would be a full-time job. It definitely is the type of site that needs proper funding and expertise.

    Good luck with your efforts!
