Got a free shipping on $150+ in an email from TGW, http://www.tgw.com/about/free_shipping.jsp
clicked on it, and then went back and went thru my affiliate link and got this:
"You are coming from a LinkShare affiliate. Linkshare orders do not qualify for free shipping. If you would like to receive free shipping on this order, please visit the main TGW site here."
    http://www.tgw.com/main.jsp?SITE_ID=W9999

So it looks to me that they send out offers in their customer emails and if a cookie is set for an affiliate, they tell the person they can't get the offer thru that link, and give them a new link, which will overwrite the affiliate link.

    Bye Bye

    Great catch Connie.

Yet more scum merchants ripping off their affiliate sales force. When are they going to get it and understand that we do check up on them.

    A note for merchants:

They are ripping off Linkshare, too. I'll like to hear their comments. Is it part of their agreement?

Do they still have the "mouse trap" script that disables your browsers back button on the LS landing pages? They sure didn't want anyone leaving their site.

Wasn't a linkshare landing page, it was a TGW landing page that said the free shipping offer wasn't good for linkshare users.
    The back button worked.
Wonder how many people are wondering what the heck Linkshare is and why do they have affiliates, they thought they were at TGW!

I emailed the affiliate manager about this.. he said that was not a Linkshare link (as pointed out by Connie).

Also asked about the "mouse trap" (from ecom) -- actually got a response. Said that there is a re-direct that sets the site (so that credit for the sale can be given) and it is not intended to "trap". It's just how the re-direct works.. can't go back 2-3 clicks with one back button click. Said the easiest way around this is-- open the link in a new window.

    Works for me...

All I can say is "DAMN!!

Well, are they going to tell the people or make it automatic so that it opens in a new window?
My concern is with people getting the newsletter and having my cookie being overwritten by the newsletter link. I wasn't worried about posting it on my site.

Make the link open in a new window?
And the popup killers, etc that don't allow those links to work?

I tried from one of my LS affiliate links and I got that too: "You are coming from a LinkShare affiliate. Linkshare orders do not qualify for free shipping. If you would like to receive free shipping on this order, please visit the main TGW site here."

Don't understand what the AM is trying to say:

Of course it isn't a Linkshare link, but, its possible that someone with a LS cookie will click on it.

I thought free shipping with a $150+ purchase was just standard operating procedure there. Appears that it is unless someone comes through an affiliate link then they get the shaft.

That's pretty disturbing. I'll call that "discrimination"
Why do they have to tell a customer he's (she's) coming from an affiliate link?
Why this customer have to be penalized?
I'm sure that special ANTI AFFILIATE page is triggered by the cookie.
What other use are they doing with this cookie beyond tracking our sales?

etl- I'm 99% sure it was SOP until recently. I thought they even listed it at LS, but, I could be wrong.

    I think its terrible.

Personally, the only solution is to go golfing (it's 75 and sunny today, I can dream, can't I?)
