    Finally Winter
Woke up to this... We thought we might make it through with only an inch or two. I was mistaken. Gotta love the Northwest!

Bring it on! We had the Ute tribe out to do a snow dance on Saturday and now predicting four feet of snow. Just in time for the Sundance Film Festival with all those Hollywood types who can't take the cold.

Already skied that Monday with my wife at my sons ski race at Snowbird. If you send it with a few feet of snow the cold doesn't matter. Actually you are getting the tail end of what we had Sunday through Tuesday.

Not sure how drivers are in other winter spots but drivers in Minneapolis are clueless. It's not like we live in a cold winter city is it? Every year, the first few dusting of snow yields hundreds of cars in the ditch. It's like they forgot how to drive in winter. You'd think growing up in this place would make you aware of how to drive? Not when they teach these guys to drive in a parking lot. You think i'm crazy? I've heard people who told me that they were never taken out on the freeway to drive or only went once. No wonder they end up in the ditch.

I'm sure other Minnesotans are going to slam me after reading this post but the truth is the truth Today while driving 25 miles, I saw at least ten cars in a ditch and couple of the accidents occurred within a a few hundred feet from me.

When I lived in Fort Collins Colorado and commuted to Denver I was amazed at all the SUVs in the median upside down after a new snowfall. That area is mile high prairie so the road is flat but we got a lot of snow. They thought because they were 4x4 they could just fly along at 70 mph. Guess they didn't know about black ice! I enjoyed honking and waving as I drove by at 40 mph.

I never had a wreck until I had a 4x4 and have wrecked it twice, both times on black ice. OK one time I was hot dogging after a big storm in 4x4 and hit a patch of ice. Killed a Kia, took its driver side back quarter panel completely out. Just bent my bumper and smooched my fender.

    No snow here!
I live in Georgia, no snow yet, but we have had crazy winter weather. We had torrential storms and tornado warnings, but now the sun is out- go figure! I think snow is beautiful, but I don't know if I could live in cold weather for too long.

We had a blizzard today and got a foot. My beard frozen and had an inch of ice on it. Town is a gridlock with the snow and Sundance. I walked back from the resort rather than take the shuttle, took an hour.

Cool pic from Snowbird's Tram Plaza before they opened.. which BTW was not until after noon today

The pic below that is an avalanche fracture above Hellgate just up the road in Alta, UT. That slide (from avi control work) covered the road, which resulted in a 1:20pm Alta opening.
