$100 Billion Opportunity When Online Gambling Is Legalized
I can't see that online gambling would ever be allowed in the US. It would not be able to be regulated and would allow online operators to highly game the system. Hey, wait, aren't they already doing that in Vegas Baby?

    Cool
I'm afraid certain states are planning a fight to be the regulator.

I am saying that there is noise in the channel about online gambling being reintroduced to the US market. I don't see this happening as the federal government can't regulate it and make money from it. IMHO

and Facebook is only one pond. There's a big world out there where this has been going on for a long, long time.

Thanks Herb, will have to watch this one closer. I am sure that states are looking for low hanging fruit like the tax nexus but it will take a federal law change to give them the opportunity.

However, the UIGEA was Federal. Things could change.

Legalize it, regulate it and tax it. What's the issue?

Don't what to really keep this thread going, but the arguments are starting re Poker. I'd expect that to show first, outside FaceBook of course. The opinion bandied about is that poker is a skill game and therefore not gambling per se. But Vegas wants it bad.

Federal trumps states unless the states push a referendum. i am not privy to the federal law that prohibited it in the first place so perhaps someone more expert can speak to that.

the UIGEA back in, I think 2006 went after the money trail. It prohibited banks from transferring gambling money. It was almost hidden in the Port Security Bill. It almost immediately killed overseas gambling from the U.S.

With Barney Frank out, who is standing up to say "boo"?

Personally, I miss playing a little hold 'em online, but what I did in the privacy of my own home was a huge threat to the security of our ports...err... Huh?
