    Facebook Readies IPO Filing
Morgan Stanley Seen Leading Deal Valuing Giant at $75 Billion to $100 Billion

Mark Zuckerberg, age 27, is already a multi-billionaire. The company is flooded with money! What is the gain in going public other than to get more money. What is Facebook going to do with even more money that they can't already do with what they have now?

Facebook executives began to realize in 2010 that Facebook would have more than 500 shareholders by the end of 2011, which would trigger a regulatory requirement that Facebook start publicly reporting financial information.

Mr. Zuckerberg decided it made more sense for Facebook to go public and reap some financial benefit from an IPO, rather than stay private but have to release its financial information, said people familiar with his thinking.

So with 100 Billion influx of capital to the company what would they do? Maybe they can buy out Fanny Mae!

They wouldn't get 100B, that's the estimated "value" - they are estimating they would pull in a mere 10B...

OK, fine, question still stands. And I understand the reason for the IPO based on convenience. I just don't see where this will propel the company and expect it will deteriorate going forward.
