    If I didn't have dogs.....

    1) I could walk around safely barefoot in the dark;

    2) My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated;

    3) All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of dog
    hair;

    4) When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like the SPCA kennels;

    5) When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading
    through four or five dog bodies who beat me there;

    6) I could sit how I wanted on the couch without taking into
    consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get
    comfortable;

    7) I would not have strange presents under my Christmas tree....like dog
    bones, stuffed animals or have to answer to people why I wrap them up;

    8) I would not be on a first name basis with three vets;

    9) The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down,
    come, no, and leave him/her ALONE;

    10) My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or
    barriers;

    11) My purse would not contain things like poo pick up bags, dog treats
    and an extra leash;

    12) I would no longer have to spell the world B-A-L-L or F-R-I-S-B- E-E
    or W-A-L-K-I-E-S;

    13) I would not buy weird things to stuff into "kongs", or have to
    explain why I'm buying them, or what a "kong" is;

    14) I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside;

    15) I would not look strangely at people who think having their ONE dog
    ties them down too much;

    16) I would not have to answer the question why do I have so many dogs
    from people who will never have the joy in their life of knowing they
    are loved unconditionally by something as close to an angel as they will
    ever get. Who else has a friend who considers you the MOST important
    thing in the whole wide world all the time.

    My dogs LOVE their Kong - fill it with Peanut Butter and drive them nutso!

    The dog hair on everything - that's about the only thing that I could do without.

    THIS is what I have to deal with in my house

    Oops. Forgot to answer the Kong Question. It's a toy. Check it here: http://www.kongcompany.com/

    We used to have a lot of dogs (finally they all got old and went their way...) and instead of tile we put that indoor-outdoor grass carpet everywhere! You know, that plastic stuff that usually goes on patios or for doormats! Only since it's inside, we got brown instead of green.

    It still seems weird to have regular carpet in one room now, like something isn't right. Although it's a lot easier on the feet!

    Commands I used most: Beat it! Shut up! and Move!

    As for spelling things out, no dice: By their responses, I know that they quickly learned that B-A-L-L meant the exact same thing as Ball, and that V-E-T was bad, and also that L-A-K-E was associated with a long car ride and meant the same thing as "lake" or "Canada!"

    Sandra,
    Thank you for the post.

    That is so true! I sit on the floor while my two babies lay on the couch. And I don't dare move them when I need my pillow either. They look so comfortable and so adorable you could help but just leave them be.

    One of my dogs is addicted to MilkBone and it has to be the brand MilkBone or she will throw a fit! lol...

    Your are so right that they are the Angel (my guardian angels), they have save me from going crazy lot's of times.

    If your ready to go to the next level of being contrilled and loved by a pet ....try a parrot like charlie who'll live long enough to inherit my house, car and 2 girl friends.... a 6 months

    at 5 years of age ...and Yellow Napes average 70 years before joining the angels.

    No sense in spelling words to get around them. They just repeat or correct the spelling while figuring out the word. Scarry when they can beat you at scrabble.

    Mike & Charlie ...

    If they won't adopt and feed a bird ..flip them one! BBQ some Gator and remember to flush WhenU..

    I've no luck with pets, I had a Golden Retriever and a parrot, last year the dog ran away and the parrot flew away, both within 6 months

    I've never been owned by a dog.

    I am allergic to dogs and cats. Needless to say, I have a dog and a cat. And every day, they're right at the door when I get home. They fight, but they love each other and they keep each other occupied. Actually, the dog is our pet and the cat is our dog's pet. They are the same color, and when they curl up on the couch, they are like one giant cat-dog entity. Of course, they sleep in bed with us, and many nights are spent with no covers or leg room because they are too comfortable to move.

    Maggie McAllister D'Puppy is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi and our mixed breed cat is Senator Marbley Kitchenhagen Le Chat, or Kitty for short. I can't imagine my life without them.
