MN Senate Stadium Bill Includes Affiliate Nexus Language
In a sneaky move by Minnesota Senators, they included affiliate nexus language in the Vikings Stadium Bill. They haven't been able to pass a nexus bill in the past couple of years, so they snuck this unrelated stadium bill in the language.

Overstock.com sent me the following letter:
Overstock.com values your advertising efforts, and hopes to be in a position to continue our business connection for years to come.

However, we are writing to inform you that the Minnesota legislature has just voted on a bill to fund a new Minnesota Vikings stadium, which at the last minute was amended to include an affiliate tax nexus provision. The bill is SB 2391. The affiliate tax nexus portion is in Article 8. If this law is passed, it will necessitate our discontinuation of affiliate contacts in Minnesota. We must act today.

The bill is now in a conference committee to work out the differences between the different versions of the bill that passed. The committee conferees met until 5 a.m. this morning and meetings are ongoing.

Since the committee met in private and seem to be unreachable, it's likely the provision will stand.

Hopefully somone with more knowlege than myself can chime in but I just reviewed a breakdown of the agreed language that was agreed upon in the joint committee (the bill to be voted on by both chambers) and this provision stood out:
No extension of Bloomington TIF districts or internet sales tax.

It looks like the nexus was left out of the revised version.

The nexus language was left off the final bill that passed.
