I am curious if anyone has any suggestions for me as I make the switch to working online. Besides hard work, are there any ways I can make a successful switch from my day job without going down wrong roads or investing in hyped products.
What would you say in a honest solid way to begin to make a living online?

You don't just change to working online until you have done your research and had success with your own site(s). What have you done so far?

I would deffinately start off with affiliate marketing (promoting other peoples products for a commission). As there is alot to learn, affilate marketing can provide a good base for anyone.
If done correctly, you'll learn loads:
- How to choose good products to promote
- Building Websites in no time at all
- Creating good quality content for your sites
- Backlinking statagies
- Traffic generating methods
- List building
and the list could go on & on....
I feel affiliate marketing can help to build a solid foundation to help you grow your online business, and of course if done correctly and you offer you sites visitors good quality content thats actully helps, then you can be assured that you'll make a few bob along the way...!
Best of luck,
P.s Welcome to the forum (lots of guys & gals that can really help you out).
