Google's Mayer Takes Over as Yahoo Chief
Heard something on the radio that this is the 6 or 7th in 5 years. Don't understand why Yahoo can't get it act together and figure out what its direction should be. Good luck to her!

has she ever supervised thousands of people before?

completely supervised, hired, fired, promoted, demoted, set salary, etc.

I've seen mention of her as "gatekeeper of Google’s home page", and leading a team on some Google projects. neither one of those things sound like supervising thousands of people for a lengthy period.
    The internet is a fad.

Well the last Yahoo CEO was let go for a discrepancy on his resume.

However, in response to gibson. Being a CEO has NOTHING to do with supervising. You don't have to have any experience supervising to be a CEO. That what you have supervisors for. None of the job functions you listed are in the realm of the CEO. The CEO's job is lead the company, promote and champion effective strategies, etc. CEO's are also spending vasts amounts of time serving as the public face of the company.

I believe she is pregnant too! Will make it tougher on her carrying the stress of the job.

I heard she's taking 3 weeks "official" mat leave, but will be accessible as needed.. they went ahead and hired her, knowing full well that she is six months pregnant.

Seems a bit extreme but I guess you have to jump when opportunity knocks.

Agreed, she may have the experience and temperament that will exceed Carol Bartz. But this is a situation that would be considered dire to say the least.
