New Cookie Stuffing Scheme Uses Merchants' Forums Against Them
Kellie from Affiliate Fair Play has caught another scumbag and the documentation on this one makes it a really entertaining read. Merchants, if you have a forum on your site, or allow for other posting of user generated content, you should read this one and make sure you protect yourself.

They have been all over the bulletin boards for a while. Taking it directly to merchant owned site forums is upping the ante pretty hard as the chances for making money with it are way better than just tagging everyone on an industry forum with an Amazon cookie or something.

We have seen this extensively across our 3rd party (non-merchant) forums for about a year now. On one of our forums, a plugin was developed by a moderator for firefox/chrome which highlights any external images in a red outline... The moderators use it in order to more easily identify external images - there is reason to be suspicious of any newer member or low post count member linking external emoticons. 9 out of 10 times, they are cookie stuffing.

Most of the instances where we see this going on, its via xrumer. Once we improved our anti-xrumer filtering, the frequency with which we see this kind of cookie stuffing is far less. Still those doing it manually, and with some degree of success - but much easier for moderators to keep up with the real humans rather than trying to keep up with the bots.
