I think I'm missing what your question is? Is there a "Compare +" Wordpress theme? I Googled "Compare+ Wordpress theme" and found nothing.

So obviously, I haven't used it. Perhaps someone else has and they'll happen along with a response.

    Yes it did
But I guess no one used it.
I was hoping someone actually used it and could bring up the upsides and the downsides.

    Anyway ,

    Thanks

I found it. I looked it over. I wouldn't, personally, buy it. Mainly, I could not begin to figure out the real purchase price. It seemed the single license (I don't think they called it that) was $40. Not bad, but limited to a single site.

Then I got totally mixed up info trying to figure out the price and usage of their "extended license." There was a banner on their demo site that seemed to indicate an extended license would be $169. But a link under "purchase" actually said the extended license was $2,000???

And trying to read through terms of their extended license, it seemed it was usable on more than one site -- but another statement said it was only for one use.

Very confusing as to pricing and usability.

If you want a much more reasonably priced, feature rich Wordpress theme/templating option, try Googling "ClickBump." I purchased the ClickBump theme/templating system a year or two ago. I use it on several sites and love it. They have incredibly good support via a user forum and the guy who created ClickBump is extremely responsive to any support issues.

    Just my 2 cents!

I agree with Gary. Even I have been using Clickbump themes and the best part is their responses are damn fast and satisfying.

I've never done a comparison site from multiple feeds. If you want to do that in Wordpress, I assume you'd need some sort of plugin (or plugins?) -- or perhaps this Compare+ theme you're asking about would do it. I really don't know.

I wouldn't use WordPress for a comparison site. To say the least it will be very limiting and the least flexible as your site grows. What you need is a php/mysql based true site comparison script. Not all feeds are created equal. Feeds need to be tweaked, scrubbed, categorized. If I were you I wd look for a script/software which has been developed ground up for a comparison site.

    sam_park,

    Thanks for your answer.
It sounds reasonable to me too.
First a small update - the compare+ guys have awfully slow response time
Their answers are detailed , but response times are longggg

Second - As I am not really a WP guy.
1.Would you be able to tell me where will it be limiting me ?
2.You hinted "as your site grows" - does it mean the DB grows slow ? After all it is mysql DB just like any other mysql DB ?

Regarding feeds need to be tweaked, scrubbed , categorized.
    Regarding categorization I understand fully.
Regarding the tweaked, scrubbed - what do you mean exactly ?
I mean , I do have to parse them (some data missing , some problematic characters) , but what exactly do you mean by tweaking/scrubbing ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Dan

    1. A plain Wordpress blog runs on php/mysql as a collection of posts and pages. On top of it you will need other plugins (like seo, anti spam, social and others). A plugin is an extra load on WP. Then you will add a product comparison. I am sure the product comparison plugin isn't going to be small one. So it will weigh your WP installation down.
    2. I think it'll be limiting, when something goes wrong, a broken feed will 100k products. How easy will it be to clean up after the broken feed gets posted. Not only you will have to be master of the price-comparison plugin, you will have to be master of WP.
    3. How easily will the plugin handle 100 feeds vs 10 feeds.

    4.About tweaking/scrubbing
As I said not all feeds are created equal. Some feeds have no categorization, you will have to categorize them. Two different feeds may have different terms for the same category (like USB drives vs Flash Drives). You will have unify them or you end up two categories which are the same. Some feeds have html, some garbage control characters in their product description. You may want to scrub them before posting.
