You may already have a program full of "Super Affiliates". If your program doesn't convert as well as someone else in your niche, these affiliates may not be promoting you.

There are (approx)20 programs in my niche. I very actively promote the top 3 converting programs. I wonder... do you represent one of the other 17 programs I'm not promoting?

We are doing a YTD audit of our largest merchant to see if their merchant landing pages are out of date. This is a push from the top down to optimize them to get more sales. Recruiting is a bottom up approach as even super affiliates who join may not get active. Like Caleb said make sure you are squeezing everything you can from your existing affiliates.

Rhia, Chuck, and Caleb - thanks for the advice, you have mentioned some things I haven't thought of before. The bottom up approach is definitely something that is worth a try.

Attend affiliate conferences, shmooze with them. Honestly, it would be benificial to attend affiliate conference such as CJU or Affiliate Summit and attend the events. That's where you can meet affiliates and build relationships with them. Also, if you meet any "super affiliates" - get their business card, send them a coffee card, your business card, and a letter saying you'd like to discuss placement for Q4, etc." - just treat them like human beings. They are very busy - so be short and to the point.

Super Affiliate is offensive to hard working affiliates who make a living at affiliate marketing. They get tired of networks touting the Super Affiliate as the only ones making sales. Plus a lot of "super affiliates" over the years were using toolbars to screw "common affiliates" out of their commissions.

Create an interesting thread in ABW -- that would attract both "Super Affiliates" and affiliates with potential.

Lately the new threads have been insipid & boring

Maybe you can blame G. for that?

But you must also remember that since you and I are no longer flirting around here lately, nobody is complaining about our love for some extracurricular content in order to keep some threads alive...
