    Changes to Terms
I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for how to deal with term changes I've received from one specific merchant. I have a small site, but each month I usually earn $100-$200 in commissions from one advertiser, and their payout was 5% with a 30 day cookie. Over the past month they changed the terms from a 30 day cookie to a 3 day cookie to a 1 day cookie. As a result, my sales have absolutely plummeted.

It's getting to the point that I feel like I shouldn't even bother promoting this company because their terms seem incredibly unfair.

Sounds like its time to find a new merchant for your traffic!

I agree with Chuck. Abandon these guys and find a merchant that is more affiliate friendly.

Are they one of the bigger merchants, or a smaller operation? If they're a biggie, it might not do any good to contact them. But if they're a smaller merchant you might want to contact them and/or their affiliate manager and discuss your issues with them.

I'm thinking if your $100-$200 commissions represent a significant, ongoing percentage of their affiliate sales, maybe they'd work with you to give you special terms similar to what was working for you. Wouldn't hurt to ask, maybe?

    Just my two cents!

'Tis the season - that being said, had a rash of merchants lower their rates and cookie length yesterday.

Also had a rash of "Hey merchants, you can kiss my butt" responses.

Guess I was a bit irritated yesterday.

you're making money from sales, so you have something valuable.

try to find a replacement product to promote. hopefully your website was not only about their product.
    The internet is a fad.

I've had the same thing happen in addition to being dropped by long time merchants. Oh well.
