Need advise on starting up as an affiliate
    Hi,

I've got an idea to start up an affiliate site for a dating web site and it's a niche market. I have information overload at the moment in regards to marketing the product and I was hoping if somebody could point me in the direction of a guide (don't care if I have to pay) that gives me a better understanding of marketing an affiliate web site.

The dating web site is asking me how I'd market their product through their affiliate site and I'm unsure at this stage which approaches I should take.

I suppose we all have to start from somewhere and I'd like to do a bit of research before jumping in the deep end.

    Thank you

It sounds as if you want to be an affiliate of a dating site.

You have to build a site that will send traffic to the dating site.

They are asking what type of marketing methods do you plan to use? For example some people who know what they are doing might use PPC. If you are not experienced with PPC, you could lose your shirt.
You could tell the AM/OPM that you intend to attract traffic the organic way.
You could indicate use of a static site and/or blog[s]. Will you use social media?
    That type of thing.
Your post makes you sound like a beginner (that's okay) and you should begin here:

I've written many tips in that forum, you should read them and connect the dots. Read the other subforums as well

Thanks for the information. Yes I am a beginner, I'd love to learn as much as possible, I understand it's a hard road ahead, so any information from anybody would be very useful

Yes, luckily for me they will have a pre-built hosted site for me to use, all I need to do is register the domain name, which I have.

    Thank you

If your site is primarily dating, take a look at other dating sites
for inspiration. Do they use blogs? Social media?

Read Seth Godin's Blog, his marketing advice is famous.

You need to observe, & read from many sources and put it together
    yourself

Pre-fabricated site? not the best way to do it.
They're probably giving multiple affiliates the same site.

You want to be The SITE where people are drawn to you and feel
comfortable with your site. Dating sites require trust.

Rhia7 is right so you would do well to heed her advice.

The dating sector is huge and the competition overwhelming so to succeed you should try to find a unique angle, not easy when you are just starting out.

Do not go mainstream because there will be too many established competitors so perhaps go for something unusual like "Dates for Lefthanders" (I am not suggesting this as a serious option just indicative of the way you should be thinking).

There are loads of great articles here and many willing helpers, its not easy but hugely satisfying when you get that first payment.

So persevere, I wish you every success.

Contact the affiliate manager at the dating programs and setup a call. Ask them what they would like in a new site and what key information would help you to better market them. Then work with the ones that make themselves available.
