Unhappy Commission Change Notification to 0%
I received an email yesterday from National Discount Stores (boat covers)

This is an automated notification regarding a commission change for the National Discount Stores ShareASale Affiliate Program.

This merchant has made a change to their default commission rate.

    Previous Per Sale Commission: 7.00%
    New Per Sale Commission: 0.00%
I put in a message to the Merchant, asking what happened.

If you don't get a timely response from them I would also contact SAS about the zero commission change. Perhaps they could reach out to the merchant. That's messed up.

Another email today. They are closing their program on SAS.

I think I've seen reports here of this sort of thing happening before, and I seem to recall they are often SAS merchants:

    1. Merchant changes commissions to 0%
    2. Immediately or very soon afterwards, merchant closes affiliate program.

Maybe I'm wrong in thinking the merchants I recall doing that are SAS merchants. I can't honestly recall a specific merchant.

But is there some reason for this happening? Seems wrong that they just won't give as much advanced notice as they reasonably can, then close their program.

Many times when a merchant's commission rate drops to 0% on SAS, it is SAS' doing - not the merchant. You'll find that the merchant is on multiple networks and has not properly setup tracking to SAS' liking. Brian explained it in a thread a few years ago...

It's the cookie that is moved to 0 days, not the commission.
