Brandy, are your emails text based? or HTML based - if they are text based, your best bet will be to use a link shortener like Bitly.com or better yet, set up a redirect from your site that will allow you to point a friendlier link like yoursite.com/offername at your affiliate link. You'd then just paste this link into your text newsletter.

Here's a quick "how to" on setting up redirect links at How to redirect from .html page? - Stack Overflow

If you're using WordPress for your site, you could also use a tool like PrettyLink to accomplish the same thing.

I tried bit.ly and ow.ly then shortener returned error. Must be the <a href= "> is the problem instead of http:// for the start of links. I'm not having problem with amazon links, only in linkshare/commission junction.

If i get rid this <a href= > what will happen

href= is your affiliate redirect link, without it you go nowhere. The other is your impression tag which is a 1x1 pixel to record the number of times a text link or banner are shown on your page. It gives you a number of how many people have seen your ad.

you have posted code for displaying a link on an html page.

the link itself is what you want. try this with your link shortener:

    Code:
    http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=XXXXXXXXXX&offerid=XXXXXXXXXXXXX&type=3&subid=0

how to use linkshare/commission junction affiliate link on email
I strongly suggest you check with the specific merchant before inserting your links in an email.

Many merchants don't allow this.. or you have to obtain permission on a case-by-case basis.

As for inserting a link into an email, it depends on which email app you use - Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora.. or web-based, etc.

I used this link on ow.ly and this is the result

--> Bad number format in offerid: For input string: "XXXXXXXXXXXXX"

Anyone here used your linkshare affiliate links on email/blog post? If so can you provide a sample?

I tested cutting the <a href= > on this link

    <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=oKNjL*EsWqw&offerid=275817.12&type=3&subid=0" >Sale4TheDay</a><IMG border=0 width=1 height=1 src="http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?id=oKNjL*EsWqw&bids=275817.12&type=3&subid=0" >

    The result

    http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=oKNjL*EsWqw&offerid=275817.12&type=3&subid=0" >Sale4TheDay</a><IMG border=0 width=1 height=1 src="http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?id=oKNjL*EsWqw&bids=275817.12&type=3&subid=0

Now this link open on a browser and i also test it on email and it works. Do you think i messed up my affiliate id on this one or it's still intact?
