    OfficeMax and Office Depot merge
Anyone even promote them any more? Seems they squeezed affiliates out a long time ago.

Not only did they squeeze affiliates out, they have also squeezed their customers out:-)

I have had the bad fortune of trying to return a merchandize that I had bought online at officemax. After the experience I never went back.

Is Staples any better or are all big box office suppliers worthless to affiliates?

Each time I have visited Office Depot in the last few weeks, and that's because they are 5 blocks away, they are always empty. Savy online shoppers are passing by and onto online. They need to get their affiliate programs going cause they are loosing big time affiliates and $$$.

I don't know about how good they are, but the afternoon tv business news people said Staples does 40% of its revenue online. That got my attention.

"The office supplier's online sales now account for about 40% of total revenues, which puts Staples right behind the global leader in e-commerce, Amazon."

I wondered when the hemorrhaging would bleed through to the public.

In my opinion, they should have merged a half a decade ago.

Honestly, I thought affiliate marketing would put them out of business due to so many affiliate networks having the items that they offer in store, available through companies that specialize in the array of products they offer.

I go in to see what they have that I like, and then I head to Craigslist, the plethora of thrift shops in my area, and Costco, to see how much better the pricing is.

They are basically the BestBuy of the office supply industry: test it out in the store and buy it from Amazon, *cough*, online.

Amazon will put a dent in everybody's biz model.

Office Depot tried to merge with Staples but FTC rejected it

Hm, the last time I was at Office Depot they were super nice to us, the assistant manager helped us pick out our chairs and load them into our car- but we did buy like four chairs at $200 a pop.
We really rarely go to Office Depot though, considering we don't need a whole lot in terms of supplies (the magic of electronic communication) and we can pick up most things at Costco (where the office manager gets kitchen snacks, and picks up printer paper or post it notes or whatever occassionally) or tack it onto an Amazon order.

As for Office Max I don't remember the last time I even saw an Office Max. Admittedly I'd get Office Depot and Office Max confused with each other all the time.

They are the only company we have ever worked with that complained about our ads. I laugh because we build our ads based on the data THEY provide in their datafeeds. Rather than change things, we removed them. It was pretty clear at that point that they just don't get it. Clear sign of a company on the decline.

Office Depot and OfficeMax have completed their merger.
The new company, called Office Depot, will trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol ODP.
The combined company would have had total revenue of $17 billion for the year ended Sept. 30, Office Depot says

Sams Club has better prices. And whatever Sams club doesn't have, we get at Quill (which is owned by Staples). Free shipping, Net 30, and outstanding customer service.

I meant Staples. How do they compare both on commission but also communication, support, promotions?

Staples (via CJ): Our commission structure is item based, allowing you to earn up to 5% on select items with a base commission of 1%.
    3 Month EPC: $42.63
    7 Day EPC: $30.15

Quill (via CJ): 0.5%-5% commission rate.
    3 Month EPC: $171.49
    7 Day EPC: $169.32

No idea on communication, support, promotions of their affiliate management.

We just buy office supplies from them, we don't promote them.

I promote all the three Office Deport, OfficeMax, and Staples.

I wonder what will happen, and if they will be merging the two affiliate programs.

Staples conversion is good, Staples offer really good deals from time to another. I like Staples affiliate manager, I would vote for him, once you join they work with you to see how can you make this relation successful.
