Hey Abestweb! Just rolling through and wanted to say hi! Sad to see many of my old time buddies haven't been on here for years! Where did they all go. Anyone still here from our original group back when CJ shut down its forum in 2005! I miss you guys so!

Any 2005 Original OG's still on ABW? Please stop by and say hi - love to hear from you and what you been up to.

Me, still eBay Power Seller/Top Seller and running my Hair Business LOL! Been self-employed 12 years strong now! What a Blessing.

Haiko sold and that drove people away.
iNet the evil empire bought and that drove people away.
Loxly left to create Affiliate Summit forum and that took people away.
Michael Coley was appointed admin and that drove people off.
I killed off Coley and that drove people away.
    You missed all the drama!

Funny thing is many of the regulars read the forum but don't want to post. Their waiting for Haiko to buy it back!

    Classy.

I think you forgot to mention one of the biggest things that drove people away, but anyone reading this thread will instantly see it.

What good is a forum if regulars don't want to post?

Sure it had something to do with things - to an extent.

Reality is what it is - and that includes this industry is dwindling. AffSummit forum closed.

The Google shutdown tons of <deleted> affiliates!

Sure many merchants are being hurt, too. So they panic, lower commissions in order to lower their prices to try and be competitive.

Why is MichaelColey still angry? Most of his recent posts are just rebuttals to the current admin's posts.

I thought I read that CJ shut down its forum in 2001?

    Hi JadaKiss,

It's good to see some of the old* members posting at least once a year, and see that they still making top money on this business.

*Old... Btw JadaKiss, I am not calling you old because I have read the post you made the other day "I'm the BIG 30 Today!!" but, because you'd been a member here since 2001.

It did. The oldest time stamp for joining defaulted to 2005 and Haiko wasn't able to change it back. I came on in April of 2005 well after the CJ forum and Code of Conduct.

The real funny thing is that I just had an OBE and it looks like:
Currently Active Users: 1539 (33 members and 1473 guests and 33 Spiders) ....
    ... Google(20), MSNBot(8), Google AdSense, Yahoo! Slurp(4)
"Google Acquire ABW" by the end of 2013...

I've always wondered about that. I was SURE I had joined sometime around 2002 or 2003 -- actually, that's probably right, 2003.

And then I wasn't around much in 2004-2006. When I came back and started hanging around regularly, I saw that my join date was in 2005. Just never thought to ask how or why, because I knew I'd joined prior to 2005, though NOT among the earlier members by any means.

I guess I am still clueless but why don't the regulars want to post?
This forum still is an excellent venue to make constructive complaints about
merchant practices, something that isn't available on other forums.
Sure all affiliate forums can make new merchant announcements, but I
always saw Abestweb as more. Abestweb has lots of posts with links to
    educational resources plus more.

Don't say that regulars won't post due to the fact that the admin is
an OPM: that's a lame excuse. What do you want the admin to be?
A veterinarian? Shouldn't the admin be knowledgeable about the industry as a whole?

I really wish someone would explain why a regular wouldn't post, because
    I don't get it.

Some people would refer to old history as BC. or AD., but...

To me (Moneywise) it only counts as BK. and AK. - BG. and AG. (Before Katrina - After Katrina - 2005) - (Before Google - After Google - 2005)

So unless you can reset Katrina and Google too, to before 2005...

I don't really care to remember about what year started...

Actually, "regulars" DO post - that's why they're called "regulars".

The rest are called "visitors" and "once-upon-a-timers".

So the forum still exists for "regulars".

Okay, so there was a bit of a shakeout when Haiko sold the forum,
but at least the forum remains -- it is still here -- it would be
    missed if it were gone.

Did the act of referring to "once-upon-a-timers" as "regulars" (who don't
wish to post) imply that the input from the previous "regulars" was more desirable? Is that semi-insulting to the "current regulars?"

The act of referring to "once-upon-a-timers" as "regulars who don't post" was out of respect for those that once tread these hallowed grounds.

How the "once-upon-a-timers" want to continue to value themselves is up to them.

    Their contributions are appreciated, however...

    Gary,

The best way to remember when you joined is not by looking at the (Join Date) that shows under your avatar, just search for the first post you made and you may get a better idea of the actual day you joined ABW...

Where all my Old Buddies from 2005!
Here is the problem I see when one of us leave ABW for awhile for whatever reason, and if we come back later, we may never find out what have happened while we where out, unless we use the same search button we tell newbies to use...

Also, I find it very interesting when some shit happen with anyone of us here at any time, and the flame war start... Not because anyone of us may feel mad and decice to leave ABW because of whatever is said at that moment, but because of the consequences that may follow after the action of just one post...

    Case in

During July and August of 2011, a few ABW members decided to leave ABW to another forum because they got caught out on a post fight between an argument that two or three other ABW members had going at that time... But here is the kick...

While the butterfly effect took off and many of those ABW deserters didn't came back to post because of the crap they posted on their farewell last post, I have noticed that a few smarter members never really went away from ABW, and still participate once in awhile around here...
