    Google offering offer ads
Google wants to be an alternative to deal sites: there's more to this
    statement than meets the eye

Google is blending coupons and discounts with its search results.

Google showing more deal offers inside search ads

    But of course.

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated...

There is a plan for resistance:

Google’s plan to eat Amazon’s lunch and dominate retailing — Tech News and Analysis

Many articles are doom & gloom but "Google’s plan to eat Amazon’s lunch and dominate retailing" gives marketers ideas to "fend off Google’s advances." I think this one should be obvious:
Stay away from Google’s tools that track revenues/profits. Otherwise you’re simply handing over your business’s most valuable data

I'm not sure how an affiliate site could offer "a better alternative to a Google search for prices" but the idea of differentiating the site and the visitor's experience is important.

What are your reactions as you read the tips given to marketers?

Have said that for a very long time.

Will read their suggestions tomorrow - but if they say stay away from all things the Google and treat the Google as freebie traffic and not THE traffic source - then I agree

Would love to get to the point where I block the Google 100%...
