FTC Cracks Down On Alleged Spam Text Messages From Affiliate Marketers
Crap like this gives our industry a bad name. I don't consider these to be affiliate marketers but rather black-hat spammers.

What I want to know is the list of merchants who accepted these spammers into their programs!!

I have no problem with bad players being weeded out, but why does it take such extreme measures to stop them..? Why aren't merchants policing their programs...? Spammers, scrapers, deceptive software... how tough can it be to review sources of high clicks, etc...

There's a reason why CPA networks (offers) want weekly payments and 48 hour outs in agreements. If you don't care how you make money you will push it until you get caught. There were 140 CPA networks last time I saw a list and each time I go to Summit I see new ones. They move too quickly for anyone in government to even understand it.

What's interesting is I was getting them on my cell from a secondary FB account I had opened years ago under an alias. Finally went in and removed my cell number needed for verification of the account.

How the heck they had access to cell phone numbers from FB I can only imagine...

If there's data to be had they will find it. It scares the crap out of me that so many apps are asking for Facebook as a login scheme. Was warned about that last year at Pubcon and haven't heard a word about it since.

Yep. I won't personally sign in with FB. I think when Pinterest came out they required you to use your FB account to create an account.

Still don't have a Pinterest account even though they've changed things...
