Do you open your affiliate Links in a new “Tab”
Do you open your affiliate links on your site in the same Tab or in new Tab (target="_blank") so your site will still be open in their browser?
MERCHANTS: Start showing your coupons directly on your site, that way your shoppers will stop leaving your site looking for them!! If not then remove your Coupon Box!!

    Same tab/window.

We do see a lot of visitors right clicking and opening multiple windows on our sites to do side by side comparisons (am assuming that's why), so for affiliate links we think it's best for us to open them in the same window...

I have always opened in new windows, the reason for that was that they would go back to my site and keep shopping at other merchants/products or even bookmark my site.

I keep look at my epc and they are really low even thought I make a lot of sales. I even had merchants tell me that my sales are great but my EPC is poor. I find that people keep browsing my site for the same merchant’s products, so they browse my site rather then the merchant’s site. so I have seen 20 -100 clicks going to the same merchant from the same visitor via my site on the same visit.

So another question for people that sometimes do open in a new tab and sometimes do not open in the same tab if they what to answer: Why does it vary??

I would think if you had many different merchants products you would open in a new tab and if the products are mostly from the same merchant you would open in the same tab??????

    Thanks
    Kevin........

For us it varies by niche/category - Fashion items seem to get more multiple page views and browsers than say appliances...

Kevin, your last sentence about sums it up for us.

I had actually written something like that in a bit more detail. But, after hitting the "Post" button I decided to delete that portion.
