    Dear merchants (category datafeed rant)
    Dear Merchants:

"New Products" is not a category.

    IE: Shoes > New Products

    However,

    Shoes > Women's > Flats > New Products

    or

    New Products > Shoes > Women's > Flats

    will work.

Thank you for thinking this through...

Even better.... Use industry standard and normalized category structures across the board. Google shopping for example since almost all merchants use it anyway. Trying to navigate category data when every merchant uses their own seemingly arbitrary structure is a nightmare.

Would you guys say, Google's recommended product categorization/taxonomy here superior to Amazon's?

The main reason I prefer the Google taxonomy is simply because so many merchants already use it when they display their products on google shopping. It seems like it would be easy to adopt as a standard because of that.

Makes sense, we kind of follow G's taxonomy but not 100%. Wish there was a normalized structure that everyone followed, Google's comes close enough so we'll probably go with that.
