    AvantLink passing on personal information
Just did a trace on one of our "jump" URLs - it was for Lord & Taylor.

Link went through Affiliate Traction (of course).

End of the URL was MY first and last name.

This means YOUR first and last name are being made available to platforms like Affiliate Traction and they are displaying your name in their URLs.

We had a conversation about CJ doing this a few months back - I don't recall any other networks chiming in that they are guilty as well...

Simply replaced my first and last name on AvantLink to "Account Manager" until they fix this personal information security breach...

this is not very good, I don't use affiliate traction but I would hate to think this was happening to me too.

    Hi Gary,

I can confirm that the account name is no longer showing up in URLs. Thank you.

Now, if only AffiliateTraction would stop putting our affiliate ID in the URLs...

Convergence, adding aff IDs to the referring URL is a long standing practice to help combat trademark poaching. Pushing the affiliate name though is not something I would condone.

Problem is when there is a trademark poacher you have the merchant and their PPC group or agency breathing down your neck. Have spent hours trying to find the referrer or waiting on the network to respond (not AvantLink). If you don't have access to server logs then its tough to catch a really good poacher.

Are you mainly concerned about other affiliates stealing your ideas or AM/OPMs spamming you with emails?
