I think this emphasizes the continued need to write effective headings and use direct language. I scan a lot of newsletters read via email and avoid reading them on my iPhone because they are not optimized for mobile. I scan tons of emails and clear out many on my iPhone. I scan dozens of pages a day and if the heading isn't speaking to me or enticing I don't bother reading the content. Therefore when reading on the monitor or laptop I do scroll the page.

Interesting article, Rhia. Only a few (short) years ago that "scrolling as a second nature" tenet did not exist. However the fold is NOT dead in one respect: You only have one chance to make a good first impression.

How do you prevent our visitor becomming an immediate ex visitor? You are correct Bill we have but a single opportunity so fold or no fold there has to be engaging content from the outset.

I found 2 blog articles on Twitter today that could be used to answer your question. Neither is an affiliate blog, there are no affiliate ads so these links are okay to use for the sake of our conversation.
