I think this emphasizes the continued need to write effective headings and use direct language. I scan a lot of newsletters read via email and avoid reading them on my iPhone because they are not optimized for mobile. I scan tons of emails and clear out many on my iPhone. I scan dozens of pages a day and if the heading isn't speaking to me or enticing I don't bother reading the content. Therefore when reading on the monitor or laptop I do scroll the page.

Interesting article, Rhia. Only a few (short) years ago that "scrolling as a second nature" tenet did not exist. However the fold is NOT dead in one respect: You only have one chance to make a good first impression.

How do you prevent our visitor becomming an immediate ex visitor? You are correct Bill we have but a single opportunity so fold or no fold there has to be engaging content from the outset.0 to $1m before I am 70, Ok maybe 71 !!! (April 2013)
