    Piperlime Temporary 0% Commission
    Received this email from Piperlime:

Piperlime is currently experiencing budget constraints. As a result, we are issuing a temporary 0% commission rate for two weeks. Starting today, 07/30/13, you will see temporary program terms for 0% from Piperlime. The 0% term will automatically roll over on 8/6/13 and revert back to your standard commission rates on August 18, 2013.

Please do not promote Piperlime during this time.
How do they expect affiliates "not to promote Piperlime during this time"? Like we can switch our sites on and off...

Thanks for the heads up. Lucky for us we can just switch them off and send the traffic elsewhere.

Doesn't look like we got an e-mail like that, nor do we have any pending terms from them.

Maybe I was singled out? Maybe they want your free traffic?

I don't have an automatic term replacement, a pending term replacement, nor do I have an e-mail on the subject. Unless I hear something else, it doesn't look like this applies to us.

So they are having budget problems and they decide to temporarily shut down affiliates who bring them money ? Doesn't make sense.

That sounds strange to me that I'm the only one received this email announcement. I feel special..

Anyone else received the same email?

But is there a way to confirm the E-mail that you received?

I am not one of their affiliates......

Interestingly, I did not receive the email but one of my employees did. She is set up to receive emails from our account just like I am but she got it and not me. I see it in my account now listed as this:

    Program Terms: TEMPORARY Piperlime 0% C&D 08/06-08/17

Sooo...I'm supposing that also means cookie-period sales will not be paid - according to agreement.

I am not a Piperlime affiliate nor did I see the email, but am following the thread because - well - because it sucks. It really sucks that piperlime.com is not "paying their bills" as they agreed to pay - and giving some folks no lead time to make changes - and "apparently" giving some other folks no notice at all.

I have had multiple MAJOR merchants this year tell me that they have increased budget restraints for their affiliate channel. I don't know why, or where it is coming from, and in all cases, their restrictions haven't applied to us, but it's a scary trend that seems to be continuing.

Two have told us that their higher ups told them to cut the budget significantly (while at the same time giving us a big commission boost).

    "Coupon and deal" publishers only.

    Just got this:

The Gap Brands account team would like to inform you of a change with the Piperlime affiliate program. Piperlime is currently experiencing budget constraints and as a result is decreasing their spend across all marketing channels, including the affiliate program. The account team has been asked to push a 0% commission rate to the coupon and deal publishers identified in the Piperlime affiliate program today 07/30/13. Please note, this is temporary, and publishers will revert back to their standard commission rates on August 18, 2013. We are requesting coupon and deal publishers to not promote Piperlime at this time.

That explains why we didn't get it.

It also makes sense. A few months back they pushed the new terms that no longer allowed their offers to show up on coupon/deal sites unless they were displayed in search results.

    But I'm not a coupon/deal affiliate...Not even close.

I'd better email them to find out what's going on.

Tricia: when did you get the email?

I just got the one saying it was for coupon/deal sites from my CJ rep about an hour ago.

    Thanks.

The email I got last night didn't mention anything about coupon/deal sites.

It looks like a general announcement:

    Hello xxxxxx,

Thank you for your support of the Piperlime affiliate program. We appreciate all your hard work in promoting our brand.

Thank you again for your support.
I have emailed CJ and asked what's going on...

Shutting down affiliates to save on budget is like shutting down their shopping cart for two weeks to save on distribution costs. Now I know why Haiko was such a cranky bastard, after reading this crap for years it makes me want to .

Does anyone have recommendations for replacements?

I emailed CJ on 7/31 asking why I was on the 0 commission list when I'm not a coupon/deal affiliate. Guess what, no response for 5 days.

I have removed their links from my sites. It's not worth the hassle for a handful of sales...

I agree, since they only pay commissions on sales. You'd think more sales would equal less budget issues. I guess I have fuzzy math but I do have 12+ years as a finance/accounting professional.

When it comes to sales I've never said "I'll take less sales" but I have worked on remodeling pricing procedures and concepts.
