    Using Twitter for Affiliate Marketing
I am using Twitter as one of the channels to market discounted, high-quality outdoor clothing and gear. I use AvantLink affiliate network. I post approximately 20 times per day in flights of 2. One post features clothing, one post features gear. The click through rate is 25% of a small number of Followers. I have had a small number of sales at an average price of $116. My question is, what is the total number of followers needed to begin generating a small but predictable number of sales?

You may be able to derive an estimate based on your current numbers.
    1) Determine what your target number is. How many sales do you want to make in a given amount of time - say, one week.
    2) Divide the number of sales you now make in one week into that number.
    3) Multiply that result by the number of twitter followers you now have.

Without knowing anything about your numbers, here's an illustration:
If you have 100 followers and make 2 sales per week: You would like to eventually make 100 sales per week (to produce some income). Divide 100 by 2 to yield 50. Multiply your 100 followers by 50 to get 5000 followers needed (for your 100 sales per week).

You might then triple or quadruple that number - because I can imagine many current followers will Un-Follow you if you are pounding them with 40 sales tweets per day.

Interestingly, the total number of click throughs and the click throughs as a percent of followers have both increased as I have increased the number of posts. i have had only a couple of unfollows that I can attribute to the large number of sales posts.

I would use Twitter to create interest for a blog and/or site.
Twitter is good for building audiences.
I wouldn't use Twitter for product sales promotion People are not
interested in you if all you do is hawk items.

Tough question. Click through rate is good to know but what is your conversion. How many followers do you have now? What are your monthly sales and what do you want? Can do some fuzzy math extrapolate the number. (Kids pay attention to math in school, it comes in handy when you want to make money).

Merged threads and removed duplicate post, one thread on this subject is fine. Looks like I posted on the other thread but ditto what Bill said.

don't spend too much time on one egg, have a backup as twitter will delete your account if they think you are making money
