    What's wrong with this picture?

    Three things:

    1) Never applied to these merchants
    2) Wouldn't have applied (no datafeed)
    3) Wouldn't have applied 1/2% commission!

Just another example of "Name Brand" merchants taking advantage of na´ve affiliates. You know there are a lot of people who will promote them just for having their ads (and the Name Brand) on their pages.

If an affiliate has a "following" for the products offered by those types of merchants there is a way to capitalize on a relationship - if one can actually get into their program(s).

Hmmm. Read again - never applied, these just showed up. Wouldn't have at .5% commission (1/2 percent)...

wow. If they did that on most other networks then I imagine the Network reps would have a word about that awesome commission offer, especially as most other networks are paid on a percentage of affiliate commission. But as LS are paid a separate commission based on the value of the sale I guess this kind of thing doesn't get their initial attention, though it ought to as no serious affiliate is going to promote this kind of offer and so LS won't see sales coming in anyway.

I have noticed since the GAN end this has been happening on CJ and Linkshare, I was approved for a few programs, I think because I had applied years ago and was denied on GAN now they have found my account on LS and CJ and pre approved me. I found it strange as well. However I did apply years ago.

Not that I'd necessarily approve of this strategy, but I wonder if they set their commission rate low for any random affiliates who want to join the program, but create private offers, with higher commission rates, for 'top affiliates' or partners that they actively want to recruit...
