Maine has just passed its Affiliate Nexus Tax law
Was going over emails and saw this from July from a PMA newsletter, surpised no one posted it.

Maine has just passed its Affiliate Nexus Tax law, and 1,500 affiliate marketers in Maine will face terminations from many of their advertisers. The bill didn't seem to get much traction initially, and we thought there was a chance to block it in the Senate. But Governor LePage supported it and he has signed it. It will go into effect 90 days after their legislative session adjourns, which is expected to be some time this week. If you are Maine-based affiliate marketer or an advertiser that works with Maine-based affiliate marketers, you are strongly urged to seek professional tax and legal guidance.

Not really. We've all be out finding new ways to scrape out a living! :-)

There are a little more than a million people up here in Maine, so 1,500 is not as small a number as it would be from California or Texas...

We haven't had much time to do anything other than address this unconstitutional law politically, and I don't expect our governor to be in voted in again.

We have published this article about the snafu on our (non-monetized) website: OPINION: Why Maine

So now, I'm off to find suitable income streams.

I live in one of these money hungry states (North Carolina). Most companies pulled out of NC for one reason or another. Most just followed Amazon when they pulled out of NC.

I can tell you first hand that once you read the law, it's not that hard to follow and in fact, 99% of affiliates in NC the law does not even apply to. It seems that it will be that way in Main as well.
