Exclamation New CJ 404 Page with Offers - Is CJ Taking Our Commission?
I just noticed today that expired CJ links started redirecting to this page:
OOPS! The offer you're looking for has expired. But we have chose some other great offers!

I don't see our affiliate ID so I am assuming we don't receive commissions from these offers?!

These are our visitors and our traffic and I don't think it is appropriate for CJ to try to directly profit from them. I hope this is not the case!

Interesting, I wasn't seeing this as of last week. Time to check it out on my end.

Had a deactivated merchant today and saw this 404 page. Not cool.

And it's the same PID in everyone's 404?

Just tested this - it's the same PID in the links on the landing page.

Based on this - I think other affiliates are getting screwed (our software disables outbound links for deactivated merchants)...

    5294241 is the PID...

The PID I see is 5294241. Not one of mine.

    Website: Media Services Affinity Network
    PID: 5294241
    Category: Exercise & Health
    URL: http://www.cj.com
    Promotional Methods: Website Content
Special Program Exit traffic for alternative offers found here: http://www.qksrv.net/media/offers/

BTW, the test click I did yesterday did NOT show up in the invalid clicks report.

Flat out hijacking of traffic and any subsequent commissions by the network...

"BTW, the test click I did yesterday did NOT show up in the invalid clicks report."

The one I tested was a deactivated and then reactivated merchant. Those usually don't show up in the report once reactivated (my experience). And the report is only updated daily, I believe. The invalid clicks report has become so difficult to use now that they don't give any date range capability.

But the bigger issue is the hijacked traffic during the deactivated period of time. Not cool.

Are they still doing this? I'm having a hard time finding an expired link to test. Seems like they may have stopped...

oh this is bad, why are CJ going back to their dodgy and shady past just after they had recently started getting respect from affiliates like myself with their improved customer service etc. Now with this bullshit and their coupon mountain scam, this really stinks.

They should put more time and effort in improving their service. I have not been able to download any coupons csv files for the last few days as they are probably trying to screw affiliates like me over so their own coupon site gets more sales.

I don't see this on my side..

For 2 invalid clicks from expired advertisers - one goes to the merchant page with a 404 (old product link), the other shows the URL I would expect to see, ie. http://www.cj.com/expired.jsp?partne...n_junction&etc

Could it be based on link type..? I don't use any coupon feeds..

It's possible it's only on certain links. I have been getting them with Tiger GPS links since we were expired from their program.

I've had my first run in with this crap today when a merchant was deactivated. Here is the page the CJ links lead to: http //www qksrv.net/media/offers/
    No, that isn't my PID.

I've submitted a ticket, but expect the typical canned responses.

I forgot to remove some links of Shoebuy which was recently deactivated on CJ. A few days later I found the invalid links and they all were showing these offers pages. But that's not all, CJ haven't reported those invalid clicks in my account, So now CJ will not only profit from such deactivated links traffic but will not report them to the affiliate as well.

    Nabz,

I, too, thought this - however, the clicks did show up several days later. Slow-ass stats...

More likely it's only on certain links.

I have monitored my invalid links since this thread started. All of them go to standard 404 page not found so far.

I don't use coupon feed either, could that be the reason that my invalid links page not land on the offer page showing above?

Had a chance to talk with a Director at CJ about this and here is what I can relay:

CJ noticed lots of traffic disappearing into 404 oblivion. They talked about making individual 404 affiliate pages but that would also require resources to get the affiliates to join the merchant programs. The page was created as a test and they found that 80% of consumers finding that page used the "Click here to go back to the previous page" thus sending the traffic back to the affiliate page. CJ is not interested in making commissions off of affiliate lost traffic and do not take commissions from that page. The page sends sales to larger advertisers who make up the brunt of the 404 errors. Best thing is to monitor your account and fix any invalid links ASAP.

I did get clarification on the Invalid Link Task, its dynamic and only shows up if you have them. You find this on your login in the lower left hand corner and I have attached a screen capture.

CJ is working to improve the overall network making it more efficient. They have a bunch of new developments underway probably after the first of the year. Hope this helps ease some concerns.

thanks for the update but I'm sure they want to make commissions if they can get away with it, look at their coupon site where they promote merchants while they ban affiliates from promoting those same merchants .... competing with their clients says a lot about the company in my view!
