The Supreme Court ponders the Internet sales tax
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court will debate, behind closed doors, if Americans should be forced to pay a sales tax on almost all items they buy on the Internet.

The Court is only deciding whether or not it will hear the cases. That determination would likely be released next Monday. If accepted, the actual hearing may or may not be held in the current term. The current Court docket is filled through next March, and the term ends in June. If accepted and actually docketed in the current term (unlikely) a decision would be expected in June. More likely the hearing (assuming the matter is accepted) would not be docketed until the 2014 term begins in Oct, 2014, with a decision not released until May or June, 2015.

Hopefully the Court will recognize that there are contrary opinions on the same issue coming from Illinois and Colorado, as that divergence in rulings would make accepting the case more likely.

It's in the House's court now with the Marketplace Fairness Act - Stagnant there for several months and nothing will happen until Boehner moves on it. (Senate passed the bill with a bipartisan 69 yes votes).

Sorry, been out fighting a snow storm. Heard this several times on local and national news. Back to the slow burn waiting for Congress to do something.

    AffiliateHound,

This is definitely getting attention and being discussed in a lot of circles. As an organization, we will continue to try to help Congress work through this and additionally help where we can in States.

There was good news yesterday as well as Amazon reinstated Illinois Affiliates based on the success of the PMA Lawsuit.
    Thanks,

Brian, maybe Amazon's action will start a trend with merchants reevaluating their positions and reinstating affiliates in nexus states.

In Illinois specifically, there is no reason to currently not work with Affiliates - as the law was ruled invalid.

Just in case anyone was reading this and didn't know.
