    Affiliate Website Examples
I read some advice that said to pick a topic of interest, and then really explore all there is about that topic before beginning advertising. I also read that we should look at examples of other affiliate websites for the topic of interest to get ideas. So, my wife is into tennis. I did a google search on tennis, but I do not recognize any affiliate sites. It looks like all the sites are merchants selling their own products. Or maybe I am just not looking at it right?
If I do not see any affiliate websites, does that make tennis a poor choice to start with? I am brand new to this whole thing, and I don't want to start out on the wrong path!
    Any comments, advice?
    Thanks!

Merchant sites will have a shopping cart and Buy button. Affiliates will link to a merchant site.

Have your wife write articles about tennis equipment and then 'sell' that product.
Or, create an ebook on the most common tennis mistakes. Something like that. Get people to download the ebook, and capture their info. Send them emails, etc.
    Good luck!

It really depends on what keywords you're using to search. If you are using the major tennis keywords then affiliates will probably not rank well. Google will put all the merchants there. You'll need to find some long-tail keywords that an affiliate can find winnable.

Here's a site I found for "the inner game of tennis"...

It actually a great lesson to learn. You have to pick a micro niche within the major niche before you have half a chance of ranking for keywords and getting traffic.

Rick, your example site is a merchant on Clickbank, not an affiliate...

Well I guess you are kind of right Convergence. But I bet it's their own eBook. It's a content site at any rate. I know because it's a Site Build It site. Perhaps they are just promoting that Clickbank product.

I'm exactly right, not kind of right.

Notice the affiliate link in the footer.

Thanks Rick, that second link really shows it. That is a well designed website they have there. I have never made a website before, and not sure I would start out that elaborate, but it sure shows how to best make an affiliate website for tennis! The advice I am recieving here is very helpful. I now know how to find an affiliate site, and some clues to help me identify an affiliate website. Even though it seems overwhelming to put together something that elaborate now, it is inspiring to see a professional piece of work like that! I can see myself making this work with some persistance.
