    FTP problems 4/5/2014
Anyone else having FTP delivery problems today?
Ours started at 4:15 AM thru 8:30 AM and was going ok after that till about 5:30 PM EST.
Been working with our hosting company to find the problem which is still on going.
Just asking if anyone has this problem and if so have they found a solution.

    Thanks in advance.

It's not just you. I have had/have the problem yesterday and today. It looks like most of the ftp transfers aren't getting through although a few does. Either way, I know I haven't changed anything and my server had been up and functioning well (although I did reboot to make sure) The problem is on cj's side now ours.

I am getting the usual "The Could not ftp files.
    java.lang.RuntimeException: java.net.SocketException: Socket closed....."
    error/email

I did initiate a transfer yesterday afternoon and I found that even when the transfer of files was being done and most got through during the transfer, it was taking a long time between files.

Thanks for reporting it, I was wondering if it was my fault too.

    Thanks for the reply Oranges.
That's the same errors I'm getting.
So it must be a CJ thing.

Looks like I had a brief problem as well, was able to eventually grab a complete set of feeds with Sleep/Retry logic in my scripts.

Yes, its a cj thing and its still going on. It's a pity since cj was the only network to send the datafeeds when a new one was created. The other networks require you to request the datafeeds you want through ftp or api with isn't as efficient.

Appears sporadic on our end - probably about 20% of the feeds...

Last night all but three of my cj datafeeds got through. Has anyone complained to cj about this yet?

I haven't said anything to them yet.
As many error messages that I'm getting from them, if anyone is home there they should know.
    Good luck getting a response.

Me neither, maybe they don't know. This probably only effects probably only effects automatic ftp. now the other 4 or 5 other ways of sending datafeeds. Plus some do get through, not many but some. I suppose someone should tell them. I'll do it :-) I'll let you know if I get a reply.

I already did it without the thread. How about you complaining too with a link to this thread? We are a strange group, it took 2 days b4 any of us complained directly to cj. I had assumed that Bob had. I had also secretly hoped it that it would resolve itself.

Have already - with a link (hence, my suggestion).

Had a busy weekend, and sending a support ticket over the weekend is as worthless as boobs on a boar...

This is the answer I got. Well at least the admit there is a problem. See I told you Bob it was not us. Now what did they tell you 4 days ago when you complained then?

My official status now is 'Waiting' as of 3:02 PM

    Hello Michael,

Our product team has determined that if you switch your transfer method over to CJ FTP it will resolve the issue now. They are still working on a solution to the Client FTP, and you are free to wait for that solution.

Angry Do they really think that is an acceptable answer???
The next response is worse Here it is:

    Hello Michael,

The correct link to solve this issue can be found here under data transfer guides:

Here is my response to that
EXCUSE ME??? I didn't change anything in my server and I didn't change the way you send the data. Don't tell me to read a 33 guide to figure out what is clearly a problem you created. If there is something I need to change on my server to fix the problem you created tell me exactly what it is. Telling me to read a huge document when I don't know what the problem is is unacceptable.

If I need to do something give me a direct explanation step by step not the url of some huge instruction manual. It's not like I changed anything.

I had pretty much replied the same way, lol...

    Are you serious?

We have been receiving feeds for years now. We haven't changed anything.

What in the world has CJ done?

Guess it's time to ask our merchants to consider switching networks. CJ has done nothing but continuously break things and make stupid updates.

Sorry YOU are hearing this - but no one at CJ listens to affiliates anyway...

That answer doesn't even make sense. They know there is a problem, they confirmed that they had a problem in the previous message. How can there be anything in the manual that can help us when it was working for years and we didn't change anything. It's not like it happened to only one person, then we could have had a problem, but its happening to several of us and it intermittent. If we screwed something up it just wouldn't work at all. It's the intermittentness of it that causes me the greatest concern. I know that intermittent problems can take the longest to find.

See why I didn't bother Oranges, I'm having trouble adding new merchants to my different feeds when I last contacted them in support. They told me to fetch them from my top level site and change the id to match the site I want to use the merchant on....

It seems either it fixed itself or they fixed it would telling us its fixed. But it seems that all the datafeeds are making it through without incident now.. At least for now.

Morgan should be fired. He is simply not good at his job. If it was a minor problem it should have been solved in a few hours instead of three days, assuming that they got Bob's complaint 3 days ago.

But more than that, his second reply to me should have been, we are working on it. We'll have the problem fixed soon. The third should have been.

"Thanks for your patience. The problem has been resolved."

The data transfer guides message shouldn't have been sent. Of if he meant, if you don't want to wait, you can use the other ftp method , if you need assistance you can find it on page of manual and include a link.

Also, just because the fix was minor didn't mean that the problem wasn't major. Not having accurate and uptodate information is important to sites such as mine and it took them 3 days to fix it. (Of course I'm not saying that the accuracy in the datafeeds themself isn't something else to talk about, that that isn't cj's fault) The point is they screw up or they wouldn't have top make even a minor fix and they never apologized for the inconveniece that they caused.

Mine was more than 3 days ago Oranges, and a totally different issue.
Mine is I can't have the same merchant feed sent to more than one site.
If I have it sent to niche site "A" for one type of products, I can't add it to another niche site "B" for another type of product. I need to fetch the feed from site "A" to site "B" and change the identifier from site "A" to site "B"'s identifier.
Just more work and more filters and a chance of making a bad url....
