There has been DNS trouble at my registrar on and off for a while.

I've fixed it now by taking over the DNS myself. (If you want something done properly...)

It is a big nuisance that including script from another site causes the browser to wait before rendering the rest of the page.

I'm currently working on the next major version of the parasite script, to work around an issue in XP Service Pack. As a side-effect it may be possible to keep a local stub on one's own site whilst still using the up-to-date definitions from doxdesk.com. This may also save non-IE browser users a few Ks of download.

Great news Andrew. Always one to look a gift horse in the mouth, let me ask: will it detect the new evil-doer on the block, Zango?

I can't tell you how many messages I get from visitors who didn't know they were infected with nCase, etc and thanking me for directing them to cleaning info. The thanks all belong to you.

I haven't yet tested Zango, or even seen it in the wild. I am still seeing a lot of old-school nCase variants though.

Is 'Zango' actually being bundled or drive-by-installed by anything at the moment?

    Hi Andrew

It is a 180s0lutions program Andrew ...... it is bundled, drive-by, downloadable, they put it on every way they possibly can, legal or illegal. Good luck with finding the update.
One day parasites and their ilk will be made illegal, I bet a few Lawyers will be pissed off when the day comes.
Mr. Spitzer is fetching it nearer

    Andrew,

I've not seen Zango bundled or drive-by. I've seen it only on the www.zango.com web site and through partner web sites as a download.

It's 180's "solution" to the previous "problems" with n-case and supposedly the "replacement" software for n-Case. Although like you I continue to see n-case bundled.

Also all the installed files have the same names (except the exe) and file sizes, registry key references to n-case, n-case references in the files installed, and behavior (except uninstall process is different). It really appears to be the same basic software just repackaged and marketed/distributed in a different fashion than n-case.

Infestation is the name of the BHO game, so I'm sure they supply the drive-by download sites with live zango and nCase bullets. That's their contribution to the "incent" folks ...successful infection fees.

Andrew you might download the Spyware Blaster 3.1 program http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html ...update it and then look at the "restricted sites" folder for a slew of drive-by install affiliate and search/porn sites. Most of the ones making infection fees for CoolwebSearch.com (1291 of them) also pop installs for Gator/WhenU and 180Solutions.

Those trying out any of those sites then should go to Andrews site for an inspection or take a quickie scan with http://www.spywareguide.com/txt_onlinescan.html
