f8: Introducing Anonymous Login and an Updated Facebook Login | Facebook Newsroom

Sometimes people want to try out apps, but they’re not ready to share any information about themselves. For this, we’re introducing a way to log in to apps anonymously.
I never use Facebook to login to a site or app.

I've used FB to log in to news sites and blogs to post comments, and I've done the same using Twitter, depending on the site and what I want or do not want the site viewers to see. If you want to be anonymous, just use a nom de plume.

I use FB to login because I don't use FB in such a way that I care if 3rd party sites have access to it. FB knows my name and not much else. It knows I'm in Houston, Texas (which isn't strictly true), it knows who I'm married to, and it knows my job title. That's it. And that's all public information, so who cares? If I were the kind of person that put my life on FB, I'd certainly never use it to login anywhere, but... <shrug>

I constantly use fb login. As well as offer it as a quicker way to login on my blog. 8,000 of the 12,000 members signed up using the Facebook signup option. I think this is a great way to protect users. Great move.
